I am very interested in the history of Czech WW11. This church (St. Vitte's Cathedral) and its position in Prague's history are the inevitable choice for me to travel. The exhibits recreate tragic historical events for those who don't know much about the history of WW11. History critics have a more precise and clear description of the aftermath of the accident and tragedy, especially the extinction of Mauthausen's supporters.
This little church has a really important place in Czech modern history. It was build in the 18th century and later became a cathedral for the Czech orthodox church. In May 1942 a group of Czechoslovakian paratroopers sent from London killed the Reich protector Reinhard Heydrich who was one of the initiators of the “final solution“. After the assassination the priest offered them safe refuge in the church but one of them betrayed the location to the Nazis. The seven resistance members made a last stand there fighting against 800 members of the Gestapo. They kept their last bullets for themselves. There's a small memorial in the church and you can still see the bullet holes at the window to the crypt. It's a must for everybody interested in modern history.
in the crypt of this church the two people looked for a hiding place after having shot Heydrich, the notorious SS-ruler of the occupied Czechia, in vain. Lidice got the full reprisal to start an example for Nazi-power
This is a hidden gem when traveling to Prague. Most people have not heard about it, but there is a lot of history from this Cathedral. Dating back to the beginning of World War 2. It's close to the city center and not frequented much. I recommend it as it was a great part of my trip to Cz. Go to Ledize, Cz also which is about 30 miles outside Prague. A lot of history about the Czech people.
