The Barnes Foundation is an Americaneducational art and horticultural institution withlocations in Lower Merion,Pennsylvania,a suburbof Philadelphia;and Logan Square,Philadelphia.Itwas founded in 1922 by Albert C.Barnes, achemist who collected art after making a fortuneby co-developing an early anti-gonorrhea drugmarketed as Argyrol and selling his company atthe right time, before antibiotics came into use.
I like this museum. The collection is incredible and very comprehensive. It is hard to imagine a person collecting these artworks and building this museum, but I am grateful for everything he has done. The post-impressionist artworks are great. I like to visit here many times, just to see these collections. Each room is a treasure house of art, one experience, the building itself cannot be ignored. The placement of Matisse's The Dance is really perfect. When you are in Philadelphia, the museum is a place not to be missed. The museum restaurant is also a good place with delicious food. I really like it!
