Low Head Lighthouse

In the northern part of Tasmania, the south and north Esk rivers confluence into the Tamar River (Tamar River) and then flow into the Bass Strait (Bass Straits), and the east side of its estuary is Low Head (Low Head). The coastal waters at the mouth of the Tamar River are quite unpredictable. A total of 12 ships were wrecked here in the 100 years to 1903. The LowHead Lighthouse was completed in 1833. The pilot station built by prisoners in early 1888 was demolished and replaced by the present-day white lighthouse. Today, the LowHead pilot station is still the oldest continuously operating pilot station in Australia. A striking red stripe was added to the tower in 1926 to improve the lighthouse's visibility during the day. At Low Head, visit the Maritime Museum and take a stroll along the peaceful coast. Walk along the beach and visit the LowHead Lighthouse. Standing on the LowHead Lighthouse offers panoramic views of the peninsula, the Tamar River and the surf and river. There are cliffs on both sides of the lighthouse, gradually approaching, there is an endless sky and sea in front of you. The Maritime Museum is located on the beautiful and wide Tama River. It is a one-story rectangular building. It was originally a military barracks. There are ship models displayed in the museum, as well as artificial navigation system, Omega navigation system, compass and direction finder. When you come here, you can experience the atmosphere of sailing. The exterior building of the Maritime Museum is in the shape of a ship, and a variety of ships, ship models and machinery are displayed in the museum, which is very suitable for the whole family to travel together. On the lawn outside the museum, there is also a red oval object, which may be the object of the ancient ships sailing.
