Cixi Photo

About Cixi: Cixi (慈溪) was so named for the creek (“xi”) to its south and for Dong An, the son during the Dong Han period famed for his loving care for his kind (“ci”) mother. Cixi is located on the shore of the East China Sea and on the southern bank of Hangzhou (杭州) Bay. Cixi is home to the ancient art of celadon-making. Known as the beginning of the Maritime Ceramic Route, Cixi is an unmistakable part of Wuyue culture. Renowned attractions here include Shanglin (上林) Lake, Wulei (五磊) Temple, Dapeng (达蓬) Mountain, Minghe (鸣鹤) Old Town, Hangzhou Bay Wetlands, and the Haitian Yizhou (海天一洲) bridge service center.
