Stadium Merdeka

It was built in 1957 to commemorate Malaysia's independence. The Malay Merdeka means independence and freedom. The independent stadium is the largest outdoor stadium in Malaysia, with 50,000 spectators and is fully equipped.

Most of the time, Independence Square is just a free open space for people to visit and appreciate the historic buildings nearby. Just occasionally there is an event big enough to make it temporarily transform into a stadium. So if you catch up with the event, you can go and see it.

You can visit and see its unique structure and architecture. In addition, Stadium Merdeka is also used as a place to hold various events and performances. These include music concerts, art shows, sporting events, and more.

I am sharing a photo taken from my room on 19th floor in Chinatown. It is close to Merdeka 108 under construction. It is one of the landmarks of Kuala Lumpur.
