Yubeng Village Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Mar)
The legendary paradise, Rain Cascade Village
If you truly love or hate someone, you must bring "them" here for a hike. A hidden paradise that attracts adventure seekers and nature lovers from around the world. Nestled amidst towering mountains and pristine landscapes, it offers a unique and unforgettable experience for those willing to embark on its challenging yet rewarding hiking routes.
To reach Yubeng village, one must first travel to the town of Feilaisi. From there, the journey continues on foot or by horseback, as no roads lead directly to the village. The trek to Yubeng village is divided into two main routes: the Upper Yubeng route and the Lower Yubeng route.
The Upper Yubeng route offers stunning alpine scenery with the Sacred Waterfall and Ice Lake as highlights. The Lower Yubeng route passes through rhododendron forests and alongside the Mekong River, leading to the Holy Waterfall and Hidden Glacier. Both routes converge at Yubeng village, where visitors can experience Tibetan culture and embark on breathtaking hikes in the surrounding area.#mountainview #mytripvlog #wecreate #urbanexplorer #awesomepic #2023travelwish #couplestrip

Glacier Lake
Getting There- first getting to the glacier lake requires you to first arrive in the upper you want village once you arrive there you follow the very clear, mapped out trails into a steep incline up into the snow mountain. How long is the hike to glacier lake? Wow that depends summer it’s around six hours back-and-forth winter I would say 7 to 8 hours. but this lake is well worth it in the summer time you can see the Clearwater you can see the mini waterfalls coming off of the mountain and the winter time you get to see the frozen lake you hike through the snow and you are standing at the base of the snow mountain.

Glacier Lake, Yubeng, Meili Snow Mountains
Glacier Lake, Yubeng, Meili Snow Mountains, Yunnan, China.
A long hike, mostly uphill for 3 miles, and then downhill and flat for a mile, ending with a steep uphill climb for half a mile or more. Took 2.5 hours to get to the lake, walked around and had lunch for about 40 minutes and then hiked down in about 1.5 hours, with one short break for snacks and photos.
I really liked the hike. Lots of diversity with the terrain, views, and challenge.
Started well after most others hiking, but caught them all and was the first to the lake. The hike says 7 to 8 hours on Chinese sites, but closer to 6 on English sites. It was mostly old people and college kids. I haven't seen many families or younger kids hiking. Maybe still in school or not their interests.
I met a little friend along the way. The puppy was following others from a guesthouse and left them behind and followed me from the point the trail began a short downhill descent and up the final climb to the lake.
Stayed by my side at the lake, but didn't continue on the way down. I think she wanted food, but didn't have any, so she eventually left.
I had another strawberry ice cream as a reward, but I'd much rather have homemade ice cream with a cone rather than packaged on a stick. Still good though.

The Hike to Upper Yubeng Village
Getting There - Yubeng is a Tibetan village at the foot of Meili Snow Mountain at an altitude of over 3,000 meters. There is only one road linking the village to the outside world and taking a local transport (very expensive at around 300RMB one way per person) or hiking are the main ways to get to it.
Xidang village is the most popular starting point for Yubeng hiking. From Xidang, it takes about four hours to reach the Upper Yubeng Village where all kinds of choices of accommodation are readily available these days.
Before the hike I left most of my stuff and my camping gears with the hotel at Feilaisi outside Xidang village as I was told that the hike is gonna be tough. But actually the hike turned out to be very manageable despite the steep ascent in the beginning part of the trail.
The views along the way are also beautiful. I absolutely enjoyed hiking to upper Yubeng village instead of taking the transport. 💯 recommended!

💡Travel Tips:

The Traveling Epicure
Deqin, Diqing | The soul of the Three Parallel Rivers Natural Heritage
Within its borders, there are towering snow mountains, turbulent canyons, glacier lakes, deep mountain medicinal materials, rare birds and animals, and the simple and unique ethnic customs. The scenic spots centered on Meili Snow Mountain are unique. 'The peaks overlap and undulate, and the canyons rush horizontally and vertically' constitute the complex terrain of the whole Deqin County with high mountains, steep slopes, long canyons, and deep valleys. From Benzilan Town to the top of Baima Snow Mountain, you can enjoy the natural landscapes of different climate zones and the geographical, geological, and geomorphological wonders of the plate suture line, which can be described as 'half mountain snow, half mountain flowers, top wearing a leather jacket and waist wearing a veil, valley bottom bare-chested sweat full cheeks, a mountain four seasons meet the world'.

Sacred Lake, Meili Snow Mountain
Getting There - From Shangri-la it is a 4 hour bus ride to Feilaisi, you'll transfer to a small van in Deqin for a 10 km ride to Feilaisi. It's recommended to stay the night and watch the sunrise before taking an early private or shared taxi to Xidang. In Xidang you can take another taxi to Yubeng, 200 RMB per person to Yubeng Village, about 1 hour.
Alternatively, you can hike from Xidang to Yubeng Village, between 3 to 6 hours. Much of the trail is unmarked, difficult to navigate, road, steep, and often muddy. Have a downloaded map or be confident in navigation techniques using the cairns, rock stackings, and red tape on the trees for guidance. I used a map from the app, AllTrails. It saved me a few times.
You may stay in Upper Yubeng or Lower Yubeng. Lower Yubeng is closer to the trailhead to Sacred Lake. The hike will be roughly 12 km round trip on the one-way trail.
Attractions - The hike is relatively flat for large portions of the trail and is completely paved. You can go off trail in a few locations to cut the distance, but it will be steeper than taking the designated switch backs.
The trail is past Lower Yubeng Village into the valley and enters the first. It follows a river on the left. It's scenic and peaceful, stop to admire the hundreds of rock cairns or make your own.
After a kilometer or two the trail begins a gradual decent, at this point you can cross the steep hillside to shorten the trek, but may be more difficult.
The trail returns to a more flat surface with gradual elevation gains before the final, and real climb begins. The final 2 kilometers are a steep ascent fully comprised of concrete stairs and without shade from the trees, it can be hot here. There is an option to ride a horse during this segment.
Continue climbing for about 30 minutes to one hour, depending on your speed. You will see many prayer flags as you get closer to the top with glimpses of the falls.
After a difficult climb you will be rewarded with reaching the summit and clear views of the falls. You will get wet from the mist of the falls blowing on to you. For a more intense, refreshing, albeit cool dousing, make your way to a smaller waterfall to the right, over the hill and wade through a small pool before going under the falls for a dip and sip of the fresh mountain water.
After drying off recover with a snack and enjoying the views one final time before heading back to Yubeng.
The hike down is pleasant, but take it slow so you don't slip or hurt your knees. Many people walk the trail, and with horses passing by, it can be crowded. In total the hike may take anywhere from 5 to 8 hours from Upper Yubeng, slightly less from Lower Yubeng.
Hotels - There are many guesthouses in Lower Yubeng and in Upper Yubeng. If staying in Upper Yubeng, Deqin Rain Water Guesthouse is an excellent option due to its cleanliness, amenities, hosts, and food. In addition, it's close to the Glacier Lake trailhead.

Annual inventory of the most recommended attractions for everyone | Baima Snow Mountain
| Baima Snow Mountain.🏡City: Yunnan Province
📍Location: Deqin County, Diqing, Baima Snow Mountain
✨Features: The continuous mountains have a lot of hiking routes, and the scenery is beautiful!
🐾Hiking strategy:
This time we crossed the Yunling Middle Line, originally planned to hike for 10 days, from the No. 3 tunnel of the 214 National Road Baima Snow Mountain to Badi Township, but for some reasons, we came out of the mountain on the seventh day, fortunately, the village where we came out was the birthplace of the 11th Panchen Lama - Shazhong.
·
1️⃣Day1: Viewing Platform-Top Pasture | We parked at the viewing platform above the No. 3 tunnel of Baima Snow Mountain, cut directly from the viewing platform to the starting point of the tunnel, there is no road here, 3 kilometers in the forest for 3 hours.
2️⃣Day2: Top Pasture-Canyon Pasture | The second day basically has no climbing, the scenery at the top pasture is particularly beautiful, going down the mountain along the canyon, will cross several rivers.
3️⃣Day3: Canyon Pasture-Tongni Pasture | Today only need to cross a pass, very easy.
4️⃣Day4: Tongni Pasture-Guolazhula Pasture | Cross two 4,600 passes.
5️⃣Day5: Guolazhula Pasture-Haizi Camp | Cross two passes, the water source is abundant on the way, there are two sections I did not follow the track, directly cut across, saving a lot of climbing sections.
6️⃣Day6: Haizi Camp-Pasture Camp | Cross two passes.
7️⃣Day7: Pasture Camp-Shazhong Village | Go down the mountain along the canyon river, you can reach the village in 4 hours, take a car from the village to Deqin, contact the villagers to call a car, after negotiation, $200 to send us to Deqin County, it is very civilian, the little brother also bought us water on the way.
·
Stay in Deqin for one night, take a car to Baima Snow Mountain to pick up the car the next day, the fare is $23. Walked 63 kilometers in seven days, it is a relatively easy route, and the scenery is also very good, passing through mountains, canyons, lakes, pastures, every day there are different challenges and scenery.
·
Note⚠️: The entire route camps are basically above 4,000 meters above sea level, if there are friends with high anti-crossing need to grasp their own risks, the temperature difference between day and night is particularly large, bring good quick-drying and warm clothes.

An average of 600, a three-day and two-night deep tour of Shangri-La~
Although it is a popular tourist spot, it is easy to step on thunder if you don't make a good strategy‼️
I will share my three-day and two-night travel route, we three girls
The cost of eating, living, and playing is roughly between six hundred and eight hundred, and we have all gone to famous spots
I feel it's still worth it, sisters who want to come to Shangri-La can take it for reference
I think it's quite detailed⬇️
-
DAY1
🕍Dukezong Ancient City
The ancient city has a history of more than 1300 years, and it is a very classic Tibetan architectural style! On the slate road, you can still see the well-preserved deep horseshoe prints, which are tokens left to us by history through thousands of years. This is also the best and largest Tibetan residential group in China. There are quite a lot of people here, praying and turning under the largest prayer wheel~ If you have enough time, you can drink butter tea in the ancient city, which is very comfortable
And this is a good place to take street shots and humanities. There are fewer people in the morning, and it's very out of the picture
-
✨Gadan Songzanlin Temple✨
It is the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Yunnan Province. I recommend 🚶Lake plank road line:
About 1 hour, walk clockwise, the 9 scenic spots involved are: Songzanlin Temple gate building-floating bridge-distant shooting point-Muqu Sheng-Divine Tree-Small Street-Lamuyangcuo Square-Divine Spring-Songzanlin Temple viewing platform
I think it's a must to come to Shangri-La here, it's very good to shoot. Time allows you to rent an explanation. But it is recommended to bring your ID card to buy tickets offline! Buying online will cost an additional 20 for the explanation fee, which feels unnecessary, you can buy it or not.
🚌After the tour, take the No. 3 bus directly back to Dukezong Ancient City, half price for students and the elderly!
DAY2
🏔️Meiling Snow Mountain, White Horse Snow Mountain
We suddenly decided to go to Meiling Snow Mountain in the middle of the night. We have come here, and it doesn't matter if we are tired a bit more. When I came here, I knew how beautiful it was, and all languages became scarce when describing it! Excited to tears in my eyes! But unfortunately, I didn't see the sunset golden mountain this time, and I will come again next time.
✅The beauty of White Horse Snow Mountain greatly exceeded my expectations. It's really worth coming here. It's covered with snow all year round. On the way here, you can feel the changes of subtropical, warm temperate, and cold temperate climates in a few hours. White Horse Snow Mountain does not have a viewing platform, a full 360° experience of the beauty of the snow mountain!! There is no need to specifically find a photo spot, you can stop wherever you see a beautiful place
DAY3
🌊Ring Napahai
This actually ran out in two or three hours, everything is so beautiful when the weather is good! Blue sky, white clouds, green lawns, you can see herds of cattle and sheep eating grass on the grassland🐑It's particularly healing.
✅Finally about eating, living, and traveling
I think there is no need to find popular restaurants for meals. We found small restaurants that have been open for many years and only locals will go. There is no service, but the taste is great: refer to the common people's home cooking, Xin Qiao snacks, mom's butter tea, etc.
👍🏻Accommodation: Shangri-La Shika Road No. 1 (next to Shika Snow Mountain, Napahai Scenic Area), we are three girls so we directly booked a very large room, with hot springs where you can see the sunrise, after all, the temperature difference is large in the morning and evening, soaking in the hot springs can also relieve the fatigue of the day. The room is very large and super quiet.
Travel: You can compare multiple parties, save as much as you can.

Embracing the snow mountain|On the way to Meili Snow Mountain, there are hidden secrets
Embracing the snow mountain|On the way to Meili Snow Mountain, there are hidden secrets! How can I describe to you the admiration when I first saw Baima Snow Mountain? The golden trees climb the ridge, the white snow is dotted among them, if you go to see the sunrise of Meili Snow Mountain from Shangri-La, don't miss this snow mountain secret with few people and beautiful scenery! How to get to Baima Snow Mountain? Depart from Shangri-La, navigate to 'Baima Snow Mountain Pass' after G214 Benzilan, pay attention to the road signs: Deqin-Baima Snow Mountain, choose the direction of Baima Snow Mountain, do not pass through the tunnel, and feel the wonderful scenery of Baima Snow Mountain along the way! About the road conditions: Here you can only choose to drive or charter a car, there is no public transportation, after following the road sign instructions, the road conditions are slightly poor, there are some small pits along the way, pay attention to slow down and pass carefully! In winter, the pass may be closed due to snow! Baima Snow Mountain shooting strategy: Around October each year is the best viewing time, at this time the forest is dyed golden, the snow top becomes pure white, and the scenery is all the way! Two-day and one-night route suggestion: Shangri-La-Benzilan-Baima Snow Mountain Pass-Feilai Temple ②Watch the sunrise of Meili Snow Mountain at Feilai Temple-Yubeng (or return) Travel tips: (1) The winter climate drops, self-driving needs to pay attention to road conditions, whether there is black ice, etc., the vehicle can bring anti-skid chains; (2) Pay attention to safety when getting off the car to shoot, pay attention to windproof and warm, bring good hats, gloves and other items!

Upper Yubeng Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Mar)
Yubeng Village Treasure Viewing Homestay, push the window to see the sunrise on the Golden Mountain
Yubeng is divided into Upper Yubeng and Lower Yubeng. The hiking route of Upper Yubeng includes Ninong and Ice Lake, while Lower Yubeng can lead to the Divine Waterfall and Divine Lake. This time we chose to hike in Upper Yubeng, so all the hotels are booked in Upper Yubeng. Among the three hotels, the most satisfactory one is this YOLO Snow Mountain Viewing Homestay.
-
🌟Highlights
Accommodation ceiling in Upper Yubeng
A boutique homestay with only 10 rooms
Every room has a snow mountain view
Close to the starting point of hiking and Upper Yubeng CBD, it is very convenient for hiking and eating
-
The YOLO is considered the top-level accommodation in Upper Yubeng Village. The off-road vehicle arrives at the viewing platform at the entrance of the village, and the hotel will send a car to pick up people and luggage for free. The floor-to-ceiling windows of the room face the snow mountain, and the public area on the roof is an excellent place to shoot the sunrise on the Golden Mountain. The minimalist interior design and the homely service are all satisfying.
-
🏠Check-in experience
After a bumpy journey, as soon as we arrived at the hotel, the front desk lady immediately served us welcome tea and snacks. While sitting on the sofa and eating and drinking, the check-in procedures were completed. After returning to the room to rest and take pictures, we went to the public area on the roof to have afternoon tea. It was really thoughtful. The level of tea and coffee is comparable to that of the Wutong District in Shanghai. They also recommended several good restaurants in Upper Yubeng. In the evening, we strolled over and it was really delicious~
-
🍜Meals
Breakfast is Chinese and Western set meals. Order the day before and agree on the approximate time to go downstairs to eat the next day. The Western style is toast, fried eggs, sausages, etc., and the Chinese style is a bowl of warm rice noodles, all delicious!
There are also bedtime desserts delivered to the room at night, super warm.
The most intimate thing is that when you go out, you will be given a hiking sandwich. When you are exhausted, sit down and open it to eat, and the feeling of happiness arises spontaneously. It's simply the best sandwich I've ever eaten!
-
🙈Hiking experience
The hotel staff are happy to share their hiking experiences with guests, as well as the different feelings of each route. It is very helpful for hiking novices. You can go back to the hotel to soak your feet at night, which is really comfortable. Moreover, YOLO is very close to the starting point of the White Pagoda in the upper village, which saves a lot of energy.
-
🛌Guest room
The room is very warm, comfortable and clean. You can take the drinks in the small refrigerator at will. There is a Dyson hair dryer, and you can also borrow a fascia gun and foot bath. The separate wet and dry bathroom is also good, and the toilet and shower room are separate. The sound insulation of the room is also okay. It seems that there are only 10 rooms in the entire hotel, so the ratio of service staff to guests is also ok. If you need anything, just shout in the WeChat group and you will get service immediately.

Hiking paradise
Another well frequented sport by China expats, this is a gorgeous and peaceful village in the Yunnan mountains. There are two villages (Upper and Lower) with most people staying at the upper village. Its quite a challenging hike to get here but absolutely worth it
The primary reason for these villages is to act as a camp of sorts for the various hiking trails that are nearby, including Glacier Lake ans Sacred Waterfall. The trails are well signposted and easy to follow. But are extremely difficult.
The village has some charm and character as well as having a couple of restaurants and cafes. It's all basic accommodation but it does the job nicely.
A wonderful, beautiful place that I was privileged to visit. The weather is very changeable here so be prepared

Feilai Temple Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Mar)
sunrise on the Meli snow mountain
was a cloudy day but still possible to see some of the sun reflected on the peak of the mountain.
Lucas en China
Look at the Meili Snow Mountain in the Feilai Temple Observation Deck. Jinshan
Why do you want to climb? Because the mountain is there.
However, the peak of the Meili Snow Mountain, Kavabog, although more than 2,000 meters lower than Mount Everest, is still a snow-capped mountain that has not yet reached the summit.
A large number of Tibetan Buddhism believers come to Meili Snow Mountain to go to the mountain in the mountains. In their hearts, they need to turn to Meili Snow Mountain three times, once for the father, once for the mother, once for the sake of themselves. Every turn of the mountain means that you are one step closer to dreaming of heaven.
want to take a panoramic view of the 13th peak of Meili Snow Mountain. In addition to the foggy ceiling of Baima Snow Mountain, the Feilai Temple Observation Deck is actually more convenient. It doesn't have to get up too early to occupy the place. Thirteen Peaks, want to see Rizhao Jinshan? It takes only 5 minutes to walk from the hotel to the viewing platform.
long guns and short guns have long occupied the best position. I feel that looking for a telescope and coin-operating to get closer to the snow-capped mountains feels better. You can clearly see the goshawk circling and the top of the mountain is thick. Snow can not help but sigh the wonders of nature.
I feel that I will not be bored when I stay here for a day, because whether it is sunshine Jinshan, Xizhao Yinshan, and the clouds are surrounded by half-covering, various angles and various forms, how to see how to shoot is not a taste. From here, the Meili Snow Mountain can be photographed with the help of the White Tower, and the prospects are rich.

Travel together to Yubeng and give your soul a good rest, letting your body completely relax!
If you don't go to heaven, go to Yubeng. This was the conclusion of hiking enthusiasts more than a decade ago about Yubeng Village in Diqing, Yunnan. Trekking in the highland forests is both a challenge and a pleasure. It's really enjoyable to go trekking in Yubeng with a few good friends. What are the things to pay attention to and the budget considerations?
1. Itinerary: Yubeng Village is quite large, with three mature trekking routes: the Ice Lake route, the Sacred Waterfall route, and the Nylam route. The most challenging is undoubtedly the Ice Lake route. It is recommended to stay overnight in lower Yubeng, rest, and then start trekking after watching the sunrise the next morning. The easiest route might be the Sacred Waterfall route, which has already been well developed.
2. Ticket budget: The current ticket price for Yubeng Village is 70 yuan, with ticket offices at the entrance of the village. Currently, tickets cannot be purchased online and must be bought on-site, but non-cash payments are supported. There are off-road vehicles from the entrance to upper Yubeng for 200 yuan per person, and from upper to lower Yubeng for 260 yuan per person. It is recommended to go just to upper Yubeng, as the stations for upper and lower Yubeng are very close to each other, and there's no need to waste an extra 60 yuan. The budget for tickets is 70 + 200×2 = 470 yuan.
3. Accommodation budget: Both upper and lower Yubeng Village have a considerable number of guesthouses. Although recent commercial development has taken away some of the original ecological charm, the accommodation conditions have improved a lot. The average cost for a standard guesthouse is around 300 yuan, while high-end homestays average about 800 yuan. The guesthouse where I stayed, which had a view, was an economical type costing 350 yuan per night. However, ordinary guesthouses in Yubeng do not provide toiletries and toothbrushes, which must be purchased separately. The cost for staying 2 nights in a guesthouse is 700 yuan.
4. Food budget: There are many more places to eat in Yubeng Village than there were ten years ago, and prices have decreased with the market mechanism. In addition to the simple restaurants opened by local Tibetans, there are also Hunan and Sichuan restaurants opened by people from other places. The average cost per person is generally over 100 yuan. The cost of dining for 3 days with friends was 2000 yuan, with an average cost of 1000 yuan per person.
5. Transportation budget: From Shangri-La city center, take a bus directly to Deqin bus station, then transfer to a rural bus to Feilaisi. Usually, you take the rural bus to Xidang Village entrance in the morning, buy a ticket, and enter Yubeng Village. There are 5 buses a day from Shangri-La to Deqin bus station, departing at 9:20, 10:30, 12:30, 14:10, and 15:40, with a ticket price of 62 yuan. It is recommended to buy tickets online in advance, as they can be quite tight. The bus fare from Deqin bus station to Feilaisi is 5 yuan, and from Feilaisi to Xidang Village (Yubeng Village ticket office) is 20 yuan, making the round-trip fare 174 yuan.
In total, the cost for a 3-day, 2-night trip to Yubeng Village is 470 yuan + 700 yuan + 1000 yuan + 174 yuan = 2344 yuan.

✔Hike a route every day
✔Outdoor leader leads the whole journey
✔Put the luggage in the inn uniformly, and hike lightly
✔Drink coffee and sunbathe in the inn, and tease the cat😸
✔Specific leg training should be carried out half a month in advance
🙋♀What if there is no 7 days?
✅If time is tight, you can also consider starting or ending from Shangri-La, and the traffic from Lijiang to Shangri-La is convenient
✅Choose a 5-day cross-country vehicle to enter and exit Yubeng's itinerary, and you don't need to hike in and out of Yubeng Village, which is more friendly to novices
