The ancient salt fields have a long history, about 1300 years ago. On the east and west sides of the Lancang River, more than 3200 salt fields are built on the sands and cliff steep slopes, and the annual salt production is millions of jin. Here you can see the whole process of handmade salt, and you can also see the unique and primitive production tools, hard-working and simple salt people and simple folk customs.
When you arrive in Qamdo, Tibet, you must come to Yanjing to take a look at the thousand-year-old salt field. Compared with the natural scenery of Tibet, here has witnessed a period of development history of Tibet. The ancient salt fields are very distinctive and beautiful.
The ancient salt field of Mangkang Salt Well has a history of 1300 years. It is located on the east and west banks of the Lancang River in Yanjing Town, Mangkang County, Tibet. It is the only place in my country that maintains the intact and original hand-dried salt method.
The salt well belongs to Mangkang County. It is the first stop of the "Ancient Tea Horse Road" in Tibet. The altitude is about 3,000 meters, and it is close to the Lancang River. The township is surrounded by high mountains of more than 4,000 meters on both sides.
The brine on both sides of the river is rich and springs out like natural springs. People build up the rocks and fix the water at the springs to form a well salt, and then carry the brine to the low level of the river, and also surround the field and let the sun steam. When the water is exhausted, there will be coarse salt, and then the coarse salt will be returned. The flat houses were further dried and taken care of. This is roughly the ancient method of making salt.
Ancient salt fields are located in the village of Kada, Naxi Township, with centuries of history, is the best preserved and most primitive place in China to make salt by hand. There are more than 3,000 large and small salt fields, and about 60 workers are engaged in the handicraft salt. The workers went down the ladder to the bottom of the hole for a few meters to a dozen meters, and dumped the water back into the salt fields, and after intense sunlight, the water gradually evaporated and became completely salt grains. Salt fields are distributed on the east and west sides of the Lancang River, with low and gentle terrain on the west bank and wider salt fields, which produce reddish salt, the best quality. The eastern shore is narrower, and the salt fields are not a block, and the salt is white, and now it looks as if they have been basically abandoned. The Lancang River in the village of Kada has formed a unique west bank red, the east bank white salt area wonders.
Qamdo Salt Well Salt Field is the largest salt-producing land in Tibet, and it can be traced back more than 1,000 years ago. The salt fields of dozens of square meters form the spectacular salt pond terraces. It is in sharp contrast with the surrounding emerald mountains. This is also one of the important bases for our domestic salt, and it is a place that reflects the labor wisdom of the Tibetan people. It is definitely worth seeing.
