This trip to Kauai Chin Valley is mainly to stay away from the city and simply enjoy the scenery of mountains, rivers and lakes. This time I specially chose the Moon Water Lodge, the biggest attraction is that it faces the mountains and water, really can "harsh oxygen"! Plus, you can self-check-in throughout the whole process, which is very comfortable for me who recools the social buff, and every step is very relaxed and comfortable.
The hotel is very well located on 265 Trans Canada Highway, although it is on the main road but not noisy, but more convenient to drive. There are many room types to choose from. The weather was also sunny and raining that day, sitting on the balcony to breathe the fresh air of the forest after rain, body and mind super relax, really can not breathe oxygen in the city.
I choose self-service Check-in, all due to the previous Online order leave an email, the hotel will send you an email with a room number and room door password, can avoid cumbersome procedures, want to do whatever you want, do not have to meet people, super suitable for people who are afraid of trouble and embarrassment. You can check-in after 3pm, fast and easy.
The rooms are decorated in warm wood tones, some with fireplaces or hot tubs, and the kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, induction hob, freezer and all the basic cooking utensils, even if you like to cook your own meals. However tips: The hotel location is relatively remote, there are no restaurants or takeaway around, buy takeaway or ingredients in advance, hungry want to eat pizza, McDonald's have to drive out. However, in exchange you can cook your own, even dining can quietly enjoy the view.
The biggest highlight of this hotel is really the view! Downstairs is the waterfall-viewing trail, mountain paths, and stargazing at night, perfect for confidants or couples to celebrate their birthday anniversaries quietly. The balcony is great for taking pictures and checking in. It is definitely a "million dollar"-level scenery, especially beautiful after the rain or at dusk.
The hotel facilities are quite comprehensive, some room types have double Jacuzzi, bathrobes, folding beds, etc., perfect for families or friends Group stay, spacious and private space. The only review is that the facilities are useful and old, need to be manually maintained, but the overall clean and comfortable does not affect the mood.
Famous nearby attractions include nature hut trails and waterfalls waiting to be explored. The surrounding air is excellent, highly recommended "One Night Oxygen Tour".
Final booking Tips: Remember to book in advance during peak season and choose a room with a balcony or mountain sea view. Driving will be more convenient, reserve space to cook your own food or bring ready-to-eat food, want to relax and avoid the hustle and bustle of the town if this is really the first choice. Love nature relaxation and immersive views, try embracing the tranquility of the Kauai Chin Valley.

If you’re looking for a different start in October, Cowichan Valley F is a breathtaking option. This time I chose Cowichan River Provincial Park to easily experience the charm of the authentic natural river valley in Vancouver Island. The Cowichan River is quiet yet vibrant, and walking through it gives you an instant sense of the beautiful atmosphere of Canadian autumn – blessed with a bit of early morning mist and a more fairy-like air.
🌲 Trip highlights inventory
Cowichan River Provincial Park, as a popular local outdoor route, has basic coverage whether you like to take a slow walk to enjoy the scenery, fish, or find a quiet place to meditate. The scenery by the river changes with the seasons. In early October, the leaves gradually turn yellow, and the sound of gurgling water inexplicably heals the mind.

Opening hours: Open all day, year-round
🛶 Recommended gameplay
1. Riverside Walk: The Park has several trails, some of which can be walked to the water's edge.
2. Picnic break: The park has a picnic table and lounge area where you can bring your own light meals and enjoy nature while eating (recommended in the morning, there is often a cool fog, especially artistic).
3. Bird Watching and Fishing: Cowichan River is rich in fish and is one of the most famous fishing spots throughout Canada. Those who enjoy bird watching can also enjoy the wood-dwelling birds in the quiet.
4. Small advice: The river is cooler in early October, remember to bring enough jacket or waterproof equipment; some areas are looser mud, it is recommended to wear comfortable, non-slip shoes to walk; less people in the morning, easier to enjoy the quiet atmosphere.
✨ The journey is truly enlightening
Walking by the river on the morning of October 1st, quiet and a little misty, the whole person seems to refresh. The Cowichan River has changed from the previous impression of Canadian rivers as spectacular—it is more delicate, with flowing water permeating every area and intertwining with withered yellow leaves, a kind of poetic meaning. This is perfect for starting a new month (the mood of the new season reset), even if you don't arrange a long hike, a simple walk around feels worth it.
🚙 Practical transportation strategy
If you are driving from Victoria or Nanaimo, turn along Highway 1 towards Lake Cowichan and arrive in about 1 to 1.5 hours. The park is quite large and can be found along the road
