小蚂蚁Located at the mouth of the Kara River in western Finland, Kalajoki is a scenic coastal city. There are aquatic centers, horse farms, adventure parks, Finnish baths, spas, laughter yoga and many other tourism projects throughout the beach. The entire seaside resort is well-equipped and equipped with complete facilities, suitable for vacation and leisure, enjoying the tranquil nature and leisurely companionship of parents and children.
The statue is called Toripolliisi in Finnish. it has an additional letter L in the word poliisi (policeman) due to the local dialect in Oulu.
The statue is located right at the entrance of the market hall in Oulu market square and it faces the sea and the tiny island of Kiikelj very near the coastline.
It was made of Bronze by sculptor Kaarlo Mikkonen in 1987 and it was named in honor of the bobbies or policemen once patrolling at the market square. It was funded with the help of public.
Oulu marketplace is a vivid summer destination with a different feeling from southern cities market places (such as Helsinki). For me as someone coming from the south, there are a lot of vibes from the northern Finland and even the close border of Sweden.
I recommend you to pass by the statue and even take a selfie with this cute little statue that never gets tired of watching the sea.

If you visit the Ruka ski resort and you want to challenge yourself (just a little), I recommend you to take the ski lift to the top of the hill, enjoy the great views and instead of walking or taking the lift down, use the sleigh track downhill the ski resort front slopes.
The track is situated right in the center of the ski resort and the entry point is just next to the ski lift upper station.
The tickets for a single round trip are needed to ride the sleigh and they are fairly expensive for a single trip (12 euros for an adult in 2021) but a daily pass can be bought with a reasonable price.
The track itself is as fierce as you make it. There’s a break on the sleigh so you can easily control the speed. The maximum speed that can be reached is quite high and using a high speed will add an additional fear factor to the ride. But I guarantee, it’s suitable for everyone - just control the speed according to the personal preferences.
But one thing that is undeniable. It’s so much fun that even as an adult I was thinking of riding it again and again. For the kids it’s a full day entertainment.
The Finnish ski centers in Lapland (well, to be accurate Ruka is just outside Lapland) do offer more and more fun during the summer season too. If you decide to come to see the nightless and bright nights of the northern Finland, I really recommend to stay in one of the biggest ski resorts (especially Ruka or Levi) to fully enjoy the summer season.
The question which restaurant offers the best burgers in Oulu is indeed a hard question to answer since it’s a city with absolutely fantastic burgers. Although I respect Cafe Rooster as well, I chose Kauppuri 5 as my destination this time. It’s a legendary burger restaurant and bar in Oulu downtown located in address Kauppurienkatu 5 easily within walking distance from every downtown hotel.
The main product is the teurastaja (butcher) burger which can be selected as a single (250 g) or multiply the amount of meat until it contains 1 kg of meat.
Anyway all the products are very solid and strong and you probably won’t ever be disappointed.
The restaurant is mid-priced and I almost guarantee that with some 20 euros everyone is able to fill their stomachs.
So when in Oulu, just don’t hesitate to have one of the best burgers in the world at Kauppuri 5.

Oulu is a city and municipality of 208,939 inhabitants (31 July 2020) in the region of North Ostrobothnia, Finland. It is the most populous city in Northern Finland, and the fifth most populous in the country after Helsinki, Espoo, Tampere and Vantaa, and the fourth largest urban area in the country after Helsinki, Tampere and Turku. Oulu's neighboring municipalities are Hailuoto, Ii, Kempele, Liminka, Lumijoki, Muhos, Pudasjärvi, Tyrnävä and Utajärvi.
Oulanka National Park was the first stop on our trip in #finland. One of the coldest day I’ve ever experienced. That morning it was -24 Celsius Degrees and it felt like my whole body was about to freeze but the scenery and the experience was absolutely amazing.
On the final day of 2019, I escaped the city and entered into a wild land full of snow, and I tried to find out the brightest star of the star field.
Europe, also known as "Europe", the name is derived from the Greek mythology "Europa" (Greek: ), Europe is located in the northwest of the Eastern Hemisphere Ministry, north of the Arctic Ocean, west of the Atlantic Ocean, the southern Mediterranean Atlantic Ocean and the Black Sea.
There is a fat policeman in the town of Oulu. Many people who come to travel will take photos with this iconic attraction. It is also representative of the security of the city. It is a suitable life for residents. Small town.
Located in the heart of Oulu, this hotel in Lapland Hotel Oulu
Oulu is our first night in Northern Europe and is part of the Intercontinental Group. Oulu is small, so it is convenient to live there. This location is especially good, just beside the church in Oulu, and only a few hundred meters away from the centre of Oulu in the heart of the city. Although Oulu is small, it is also a city, so it is convenient to eat and buy things. Of course, it is also especially suitable for friends who love to take pictures. Oulu, covered in snow, is on the outside.
The room is quite spacious, although the site is written on 22 square meters, but the two people actually live up enough space. The black beige color scheme and the antlers on the wall are typical of the Nordic Lapland style. All the interiors in Finland are particularly warm. I remember that we were frozen into a dog on the first night after eating dinner from the outside. Once inside, we were cured.
One more thing, the restaurant at this hotel is very large and elegant. The hotel's breakfast should be the best in the whole hotel, and the restaurant environment is very Lapland. Oulu was once a town known for its tar and squid. When you saw the squid in various ways, you know that rumors are not false. Since then, we have eaten countless squid in Northern Europe. It can be seen that the Nordic on the tip of the tongue is inseparable from the fish.
The window of the hotel room is an elementary school. As soon as the class time is over, a group of bear children and children are rushing out and cheering on the playground. This vibrant and energetic picture lights up our new day's journey.
Fat police, Oulu city icon
This red house is the market hall on the Oulu Market Square. It was built in 1901 and the building follows the simple style of Northern Europe. Different from the general vegetable market, the market hall also has a coffee breakfast stall and some local hand-made stalls selling reindeer skin and wooden decorations, which are quite old-fashioned. Undoubtedly, inside and outside the halls of the Oulu market, you can touch the civilian life closest to Finland.
The morning market hall is not open yet, and the hall is empty. In the summer, the square in front of the market will be extraordinarily lively. Various open-air booths will be built along the road. In the winter, due to the very low temperature, the front door is deserted and people are concentrated in the indoor heating. Although we missed the market hall in Oulu because it was too early, we would never miss an Oulu celebrity here. It is the fat policeman in front of him, called Toripolliisi in Finnish.
This is also the city icon of Oulu, which stands in front of the market hall and faces the sea. There are many versions of the fat police story. One version I heard is that Oulus law and order is very good. I dont need a policeman. I just need a bronze statue of a fat policeman to maintain the market square here. Listening to the legend. . The fat policeman was very cute, and he touched the belly of the fat policeman and took a picture with him. It became a must for Oulu.
