The Istrian Peninsula is a treasure trove of history, nature, and culture, and Pula is one of its most iconic ancient cities. This itinerary focuses on the most famous Temple of Augustus, along with the romance of Rovinj and the majestic mountain town of Motovin, offering a full-day, layered experience that effortlessly bridges culture, architecture, and nature. 🔆Suggested Itinerary In the morning, we recommend starting in the old town of Rovinj. Its narrow cobblestone alleys are crisscrossed, and the colorful houses are particularly charming in the sunlight. The Church of San Euphemia, perched on a hillside, offers the best panoramic view of Rovinj. From the top of the church tower, the sea and the old town blend seamlessly, making it a perfect spot for photos. Around midday, head to Pula. The Temple of Augustus (Address: Forum b.b, 52100, Pula) is a must-see. With long opening hours (08:00 - 21:30) and excellent flexibility, its exterior is remarkably well-preserved, a rare authentic example of an ancient Roman temple. Nearby is the magnificent Pula Arena, a testament to a thousand years of history. It's recommended to visit the temple first, then leisurely stroll through the nearby squares and arena to soak in Pula's ancient Roman atmosphere. In the afternoon, consider driving or taking a ride to Motovyn, a hilltop town on the Istrian Peninsula. The journey is picturesque, with expansive green fields and vineyards along the way. Motovyn is small and charming, with colorful stone houses built along the hillside. Climbing the city walls offers panoramic views of the entire peninsula and is a superb spot for watching the sunset. 📸Recommended Spots · Rovinj Church of San Euphemia bell tower overlooking the ancient city and coastline · The antique square in front of the Temple of Augustus in Pula · The interplay of light and shadow on the arches inside the Pula Arena · Motovyn hilltop walls offering a bird's-eye view of the city and distant mountains 👍Tips 1. It's recommended to depart early, as the various attractions on the Istrian Peninsula are approximately a half-hour drive apart, allowing for a comfortable pace. 2. Wear comfortable hiking shoes. Rovinj and Motoven have cobblestone streets, which can be slippery, so be careful. 3. There are many cafes around the Temple of Augustus and the Pula Arena, suitable for resting and replenishing supplies before continuing your journey. 4. Motoven is famous for its truffle cuisine; consider trying a local restaurant for dinner. ⚠️Important Notes · Some streets in the town are narrow, so be especially careful about parking if you're driving. It's recommended to park in parking lots outside the town. · During peak season, there are many tourists, so arrive early at popular photo spots to get better photos without crowds.
