Pangong Lake

Pangong Lake is a typical river-type lake, and its long and narrow body creates a unique landscape effect. The two largest tributaries of Pangong Lake, Magazangbu and Duomaqu, are both located in the eastern part of the lake. The freshwater source is sufficient, and the replenishment is greater than the evaporation. Therefore, the eastern part of the lake is a freshwater lake and the western part is a saltwater lake.



Bangong Lake (Ladakh: Pangong Tso), also known as Cuomuangla Rinpo (Tibetan: མཚོ་མོ་ངང་ལྷ་རིང་པོ།; Willi: mtsho mo ngang lha ring po; THL: Tsomo Nganglha Ringpo), Tibetan meaning "long neck swan", is located about 12 kilometers northwest of Ritu County, Ali District, Tibet Autonomous Region, with an east-west direction, with an area of 604 square kilometers. Among them, China has 413 square kilometers, accounting for about 68.5%; India-controlled Kashmir has 191 square kilometers, accounting for about 31.5%.



Ritu County has many places carved rock paintings, mainly distributed in the southern and eastern Bangong Lake nearly two or three hundred square kilometers of the area, the most easy to find rock paintings in the Xintiang Highway near Ritu. The volume is large, some are still colored. But carefully distinguish, they are all the works of today's people, all Sanskrit, are six words of the truth.
