My husband and I did this walk on Wednesday afternoon dodging the showers. It was amazingly beautiful even for non Lorna Doone fans and even on a wet and windy day.
Stunning scenery. We had a thoroughly relaxing holiday staying in the Doone Valley, in a lovely cottage next to the river. Full of wildlife and completely unspoilt.
This is lovely valley to walk up, especially if you know the Lorna Doone story. BUT if you head out onto the moor, make sure you know how to navigate as there is a lack of landmarks out there.
Although the sun was shining bright, the impact of the valley and the houses and farms seen from above was spectacular and eerie. Well worth an extended visit
