Dongshan County is a group of islands located in the southern part of Fujian's Chaozhou, full of beautiful landscapes and local inhabitants. Because the island is shaped somewhat like a butterfly, it also is called by another more beautiful name "Butterfly Island". The island's most iconic symbol is Fengdong Stone, or Zhangzhou Dongshan Pneumatic Rock. Visitors who come to Dongshan Island can take photos of the precariously placed boulder, amazingly held in place for hundreds of years. Visitors can easily make a weekend trip to Dongshan. Fresh local seafood, watching the local fisherpeople make their catch of the day and fine sandy beaches to spend a day sunbathing all make for a relaxing seaside holiday.
