I usually do not review restaurants but my experience was so bad and the service was so poor that I felt compelled to say something. Firstly, the waiter took far too long to take our order. Secondly, the food that arrived wasn't what we ordered and I made this point to the waiter who looked unbelievably confused. I asked for a fork and it never arrived. I took one from another table. The food was the most average, bland, non flavoursome cuisine I have had in Dubai. I was stunned at how boring it was. I think the Chef needs to be fired. The sushi was okay but only okay, not even good. The rice that accompanied the main hot dish needed more salt and tasted microwaved - it wasn't fluffy or particular pleasant. The chicken was most definitely cooked a day before and reheated - it was tough and the whole meal was simply awful. Considering this restaurant is NEVER busy, there can be no excuse for such poor food and poor service. To make it worse, I spoke to the manager at the end to share my negative feedback. I expected her to be a little more appreciative of the fact that I was being honest and she didn't even make an effort to apologise. When I informed her that we received the wrong order and expected some sort of discount off the bill, she refused and said that because we ate the food, company policy prohibited her for giving us a discount! I've never heard so much rubbish in my life. I only ate it because I was hungry and waited an age for my food! I was so insulted by her attitude. Japengo should really rethink what customer it is hoping to attract - the menu tries to do it all by offering sushi and oriental cuisine as well as burgers and continental cuisine - it doesn't work. It should go back to basics. Japengo Dubai Mall should close down - it is a waste of a beautiful space in mall. I will never go back and will never recommend this horrible restaurant to anyone. Its a disgrace.
