Taste of Italy by Heinz Beck

Chin Chin was once my favourite Chindian (Chinese-Indian) restaurant in Dubai. This was back when we lived off al-Dhiyafah Road, a few minutes stroll away. My family and I loved the food so much we would actually go there to eat every now and then. And for those of you who have been, you&rsquo;ll know there isn&rsquo;t much space, inside or out. But the kids were younger and the fuss Nepalese Chef Prim and the front desk Pilipino staff would make, encouraged them to walk over for a dine-in rather than order for a home delivery where they could eat while glued to the TV. I remember the food being amazing. But it&rsquo;s changed now. None of the old staff are there anymore. And the food, while it still looks similar, simply isn&rsquo;t. Not that it&rsquo;s bad. It&rsquo;s just lost some of its OMG! Compounding the obvious change in quality at Chin Chin, may also be the string of Asian restaurants which have popped up on al-Dhiyafah Road and in Satwa since Chin Chin had the area to itself back when it opened. Some of these newer restaurants are really, really good, like the Noodle Bowl, Shanghai Kitchen and right across the road, Mannaland Korean (which was actually there before Chin Chin). That said, Chin Chin remains one of the better Chindians out there and most definitely worth a visit / order.
