There are many wild animals in the Otago Peninsula. The wild penguin is charming, and sea lions and seals can be seen everywhere on the shore. The most precious Royal albatrosses and penguins need tickets to go home. Since penguins need to be seen after 6 p.m. to return home, we dare not open the night, so we have to give up this activity and enjoy the Royal albatross wholeheartedly. The Otago Peninsula is the world's only land breeding habitat for Royal albatrosses, which means that you want to appreciate the Royal albatrosses only one family, after this village there is no shop. Before viewing the albatross, the lecturer will explain the albatross's migration history, growth status and living habits in a small classroom before entering the wildlife reserve. But to watch albatrosses soaring in the sky is too good to do, it must be windy. We have to say that our trip was so lucky that we happened to meet a suitable gale day in the Otago Peninsula in the sunshine all day long that we had seen several albatrosses flying overhead before reaching the viewing house. The viewing room is a small, three-sided glass chamber. The lecturer will provide telescopes for everyone, and then you can enjoy them freely. There are more albatrosses seen here than outdoors. According to the commentator, the winged adult albatross can reach up to three meters in length. Once again, I lament that there is no long-focus lens to restore the albatross's graceful attitude of flying. That is really the royal nobility in birds.
In fact, the whole Danidin can be regarded as a U-shaped: the left side of U is on the South Island, which is the signal hill and Baldwin Street, with a heavy industrial atmosphere; the right side of U is the Otago Peninsula, where there are beaches, cliffs, pastures, castles, all kinds of wildlife, etc., with a strong natural flavor; the bottom of U is the downtown Daniding. There are albatross center, Penguin world, castle, flying sand beach and so on. Among them, flying sand beach is recommended. We saw wild yellow-eyed penguins, sea lions and seals there. There are two other roads on the peninsula, one is the coastal highway, the other is the coastal highway. There is no barrier at all. Driving is very exciting. The other is the mountain road. The road is narrow. Some sections are on the cliff edge, and the road is not even on the middle line. However, the scenery of the two roads is very good. Don't miss them.
The best way to travel on the Otago Peninsula is to drive by yourself. The Otago Peninsula is situated on the southern side of Port Daniding. It was originally a volcano. Now the peninsula is part of the wall of a large extinct crater. Starting from Danidin, we travel along the coastline, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the bay, the blue water and the flying seabirds.
It's highly recommended if the weather is good. On the one side of the peninsula is a warm and calm bay area. Highways are built along the coast. The roads are narrow, winding and pleasant. It is said that there is an albatross center at the end of the road and tickets are needed. After enjoying the scenery of the bay, we crossed the island and drove all the way to sandflybay. The road to climb the mountain was not easy to drive, so we need to drive carefully. When we rushed down a steep slope, we were shocked to see the Baifan Bay scenery. It takes 5 minutes to walk from the parking place to the viewing platform, but it takes 40 minutes to walk to the beach. You can see the sea lions sunning on the beach at close range. Two-thirds of the hiking roads are fine white sand. When we go to the beach, we have to go down a slope. We don't feel steep when we go there, but when we come back, we find it very difficult to climb the slope. There is time to visit the castle on the island. Some people choose to live in the castle, but they have to make a reservation in advance. We didn't make a reservation one month in advance.
The Otago Peninsula is a very beautiful peninsula on the South Island of New Zealand. It has vast grasslands and beautiful bays. Walking on the black beach in the bay, I feel very good. The hillside is lined up with many dwellings. They are so happy by the mountains and the sea.
Driving all the way from Dunedin to Sandfley Bay, we can enjoy the endless scenery outside the window. We can see the Otago Peninsula and the alpine pastures along the way. There are also lots of small towns adorned with magnificent scenery. The sheep in the pasture walk and graze happily, along the road scenery, there is a sense of acquaintance, perhaps seen in which movie. Sandfly Bay Feisha Bay, a one-way walk to the viewing platform takes 5 minutes, to the beach takes 40 minutes, the whole trip takes at least 3 to 4 hours. So bring water or some food (if you're going to have a picnic here) and 2/3 of the road conditions are soft sand. It's recommended to wear sneakers (barefoot if necessary). Sandfly Bay sees sea lions and yellow-eyed penguins without charging tickets. Whether you can see them depends on your luck. Yellow-eyed penguins are advised to come back before 7 a.m. or after 9 p.m.
