My wife and I took two visitors who we were showing Edinburgh to for a quick lunch in this elegant dining room. The lunch selection which included sandwiches and salads and hot dishes were well displayed and obviously freshly made. While the dish selection system was not particularly efficient the food was good quality with the exception of some potatoes that looked and tasted as if they had been reheated a number of times. It really is a pleasant place for lunch and quite busy. The major disappointment was the inattention to finished dishes. We had to clear a space on our table and even though a member of staff delivered a dish to us they ignored the dirty plates that e piled to make space. They remained there for the whole time we took to eat and slowly but surely all the tables around had piled of dirty dishes on them We saw only one table for two on the periphery cleared even though there were periods of staff behind the serving counter standing in groups chatting and numerous plates were delivered to tables with the serving staff ignoring the growing mess. Very disappointing and spoiled a pleasant experience.
