The Voodoo Rooms

When I came, I happened to encounter a restaurant activity. I got a 75% discount. It was very cost-effective. The dishes inside were also delicious. The main scenery was very good. The large floor-to-ceiling windows made it very good to see the scenery at the window.

We had Craig as our waiter this evening and he was absolutely amazing, very polite, respectful and up for a good quick chat. The Gaucho is a modern restaurant for solos, families and so on. The toilets were looking good aswell. On the food side: I&#39;d say not the best steak I&#39;ve ever had, but really, really good. The special sauce is doing its job and the topping aswell. Both of them are really delicious. Btw: Craigs recommandation again. :) Looking forward to visit the gaucho another time.

The service was very slow but the staff, when they came, were helpful and friendly. We suspect that there was a shortage of staff.

Shockingly bad customer service. Found a lovely booth showing no reservation and ordered drinks. First sip and we’re told we need to vacate table in 20mins.  We said there’s no reserved sign, no advance warning at bar. We asked if we could have refund and to go elsewhere. We were dismissed and even laughed at by bar management. ‘Not how it works here’ is what we were told. Hugely arrrogant, dismissive and belittling. Awful people. Go elsewhere.

Upstairs above the Cafe Royal are the voodoo Rooms, now a separate establishment. No more the oyster restaurant but a cocktail bar with a food menu and a ballroom!  The original decorations are still in tact and are the main reason to visit. It is a lively popular bar like so many in Edinburgh. You can book a table but they expect some of the party to order food.  Serve is at the table and efficient with friendly staff working hard.  Worth a visit to see an original style of Edinburgh establishment with all its finery.

The ceiling is the point.

Exceptional service, cosy feel in a central albeit "hidden" location. Prices were very reasonable indeed considering the above. Would recommend 100%.

Popped in for a quick drink before heading back to the airport to end my Birthday city break, and ended up staying for 3 cocktails and food! Fabulous drinks, beautiful building and lovely staff. Definitely visit if you are in the area.

We booked a table in the voodoo rooms for an annual get together with school friends. We had a reservation for a late lunch booked elsewhere prior to our booking at 1700. Our meal ran over and we were 25 mins late for our table reservation at the Voodoo rooms. On arrival we apologised and were informed that sadly our table had been given to other customers but we were welcome to stay and enjoy drinks at the bar, which we did. We stayed for 2 hours which was the allocated time of our original reservation. The following week the voodoo rooms charged my friends credit card £60 for a &apos;no show&apos; . I initially thought thought this was an innocent mistake and presumed this would be rectified on making contact with the voodoo rooms but i was sadly mistaken.  The customer service has been absolutely awful. The manager is rude, arrogant and dishonest. He informed me that the bar was &apos;at financial loss&apos; due to our lateness, despite the fact the bar was VERY busy and they had given our table to waiting customers. Dishonesty and theft is not respectful and shows anything but good leadership. 8 weeks later and the communication has rudely halted.
