Edinburgh Castle is an old military fortress in Scotland. You need to buy a ticket to enter the castle. We went a bit late, and we went around and took pictures outside the castle. The view from the commanding heights is great, and you can see the entire old city from the heights. Looking up, there is also a fort, a tourist service center, and free toilets. recommend
For online ticket booking, there is a ticket collection machine on site, which is very convenient. It is recommended to book tickets online in advance. There are many people in line to buy tickets on site. The castle is quite big, take the kids around for a long time, Scotland's royal jewels are must-sees, some line up, others such as war museums, memorials, palaces, etc. do not need to line up, enter quite quickly.
I strongly recommend enjoying a walk without a guide around the castle. Departs here every 15 minutes and can pass through the entrance of the castle. You can easily spend 1.5-2 hours here. I recommend booking the earliest ticket to avoid queues. I missed watching the crown, because at 11:3-12:00 noon (I was visiting and watching around), the queue waiting to watch it was a joke.
