The Qingyun Caves are located on the western bank of Foshan. Within the scenic area, there is beautiful, picturesque scenery. It is famed for its racing mountain streams and rapid waterfalls, which are the distinctive natural attractions of the Qingyun Caves scenic area. Construction of the famous Qingyun Caves Daoist Temple within began during the reign of the Qing emperor Guangxu. The temple is imposing and has a pronounced cultural atmosphere, and is a considerable favorite of adherents of Daoism. Tradition has it that because the mountains to the left and right meet here, and the spring water follows the stream to converge with it, it is as if it contains a spirit, and so it was chosen as a sacred place for Daoists.
