14 days into a month long charity ride and we felt ready for a blowout meal....and we got one! Having asked our campsite owner for a recommendation we were told that if we liked beer and good food the Bier-Hannes was the place to go - and only a kilometer from the camp site to boot. We parked our bikes around the back (where there was an interesting old Heinkel bubble car) and smelled the wonderful smell of roasting meat. Rounding the corner of the building we saw the reason...a huge rotisserie filled to the brim with crispy juicy Schweinhaxe. No menu required - THAT was going to be our meal tonight. Whilst the establishment's location by a busy main road was not all that picturesque, once inside we were more than happy with the traditional German decor and ambiance. The beer was definitely worth bonus points as it was house brewed and delicious - just the job to go with our delicious piece of Pig. Marvellous. Really friendly staff and super atmosphere - a really busy place for obvious reasons. I did have a quick look at the menu out of curiosity and it had plenty of traditional German dishes on offer - certainly other customer's meals looked pretty good, although most folks went for the Schweinhaxe. This place is highly recommended unless of course you are of a vegetarian persuasion.
