Frankfurt Airport Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Frankfurt airport transit
I recently had a short layover in Frankfurt in terminal 2.
It was a very quick and efficient method to get the many passengers through security, and once through, there were plenty of places to eat, drink and relax. At the boarding gates, there are lots of seating spaces with nice views of the runway and charging stations available for electronics. There is also free wifi in the airport too! #airport #mytripvlog #urbanexplorer

One day in Frankfurt
Recently visited Frankfurt during a 6h layover
The city has a beautiful old town area (altstadt) with beautiful old German buildings and Kaiserdom St Bartholomaus. Remember to check out Römerberg, a historical town square with reconstructed timber houses.
Frankfurt is also the financial hub of Germany and home to many luxury brands for the avid shopaholics.

SUITE DREAMS - Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge
Ah almost missed this one out!🎈
it is well known that the ground experience is lacking for SQ’s Suite passengers in Frankfurt Airport - so I did embark on this part knowingly 🥲
While not quite on par with what a SQ Suite ground experience should be, this Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge was decent enough for a otherwise regular airport lounge chilling 🌿
They could do with more sofa seats as it was terribly crowded during my costs but I managed to snag a solo spot to do abit of plane spotting for an hour, sipping baileys on the rock 🍸
The breakfast spread seem decent though I didn’t partake - definitely enough for breakfast 🍳
Toilets were clean which was a bonus too 🧼

SUITE DREAMS - Lufthansa Senator Lounge
Had a brief 2-hour layover at this very non first class lounge at Frankfurt Airport while my 1A is being refreshed for my onward journey to JFK 🫥
It was actually a adequate for a quick stint even as toe big space felt very no frills and nondescript. Huge seating and plenty options to hide yourself in, with semi private “business booths” available if you so wish (got printer also). 💺
Food wise saw quite a decent selection of breakfast nosh laid out in bright dining sections which was nice. Can’t vouch for the quality as I was saving my appetite for more Comtes onboard. 😜
Perhaps the weakest link in this part of my journey but ah wells.

Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Frankfurt Main train station
The Frankfurt Main Train Station is one of the largest train stations in Europe and is located just west of the city center. More than 350,000 travelers use this station every day. To be able to manage this great volume of traffic, the central station has more than 25 platforms in five departure halls.
First class lounge is great, worth the extra investment if you have a long wait. Staff is super helpful and friendly offering complimentary drinks(inc. alcoholic) and foods both sweet and savoury. Seats are comfortable and the free internet while not the fastest at least works consistently.

The Town Of Frankfurt
Recently I went for a short work trip to Frankfurt in Germany where I was able to do a short visit to St Paul's Church where its a former protestant Church in Germany and this is a site visited by many tourists as this has a historical value where this Church was built in the 1800s, and surprisingly this Church wasn't even bombed.
Also not too far away is the frankfurt train station located about a 10 - 15min walk away. The train station called Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof, was also built in the 1800s was a transport hub for Germany and they have more than 20 over platforms making it one of the biggest and largest train station in Europe.
If you look around you in the town of frankfurt, the building resembles of olden times cottages houses which you are unable to see elsewhere. It's amazing how these structure still stands after so many years.

we have just returned from frankfurt in germany and found it to be a fantastic city. we stayed in the keiser hof quility inn on keiser straBe and it was very central indeed. all main attractions were in walking distance of each other. we were there at carnival time where all the local people and their children get dressed up and line the streets for a parade and party. this happens on the 22st of feb. the best location to go out at night is a place called sachsenhousen pronounced "zach-sin-house-in" its over the river main and any taxi will bring you, just ask for sachsenhousen the old part. the train will bring you in from the airport in 11 mins and leave you right in the heart of the city and most hotels are located in this area. we stayed 3nights in our hotel which included breakfast of a continental style for 150euro which was lovely. not to pricey for beer or food. 3euro for beer and maybe 5euro for takaway. there was 24hour reception and a coffee machine in the lobby for a nice late coffee on returning back after drinks! visit the old town which is called romer and you can easily find it just off the main shopping street which is called zeil. pop into woolworths its has loads of bargins.

The Roman Forum is the only square in the modern cityscape of Frankfurt that still retains the face of the medieval streets. It is also the most important symbol of Frankfurt. As a rare ancient building left after World War II in Frankfurt, it is home to countless tourists from all over the world. When we came, it was on Christmas Day, and the squares decorated with festive decorations were particularly "enchanting." The stream of people flowing constantly makes the whole square lively and extraordinary. One of the biggest attractions in the Roman Forum is the bronze statue of the Justice Goddess in the center. This costume beauty holds the balance and symbolizes fairness and justice. The fountain below the statue is said to have been filled with red and white wines when an emperor crowned it.

Frankfurt Cathedral
Gothic architecture at its finest, I couldn’t get enough of any view of Frankfurt that includes this amazing cathedral! The interior is not as impressive, but still beautiful. In the entrance you ‘ll also read about the church and old town during WWII, so interesting. I don’t know if any visits up the tower are permitted, but I ‘ll love to climb up there next time I’m in Frankfurt!
Very iconic cathedral - due to its importance as a former election and coronation church of the Holy Roman Empire.
Built with red dark stone, this 95 meters tall building is a major dominant of ''old'' Frankfurt. The interior is decorated with a beautiful shade of red that is not so typical for cathedrals and that is what makes this place quite unique in my eyes. There are some nice pieces of art, furniture and decorations, although it is quite a simple building, and there are definitely more impressive cathedrals around Germany. I appreciated the stained glass windows with pastel colors and I was impressed by the floorplan of the cathedral, as it is as wide as long, which I didn't notice until I was walking inside the transepts.
Cathedral (Dom) is wheelchair accessible and located just a few meters from the U-Bahn stop of the same name. The entry is free, however there is a museum located in the other part of the cathedral and requires purchasing a ticket. Great addition to the cathedral tour is the climb to its tower and seeing the Frankfurt skyline!
Interesting fact: It was pretty much the last standing building after the 1944 bombarding of Frankfurt - that and more you can read at the entrance to the cathedral.

Frankfurt Cathedral
Gothic-style Catholic cathedral decorated with Renaissance frescoes, plus a tower with city views.
It is well worth visiting and can be seen in less than 30 minutes. Anyone can enter and the entrance is free of charge.
Situated in the heart of Frankfurt and has interesting information in the front diagrammatically showing the damage during WWII and the repairs that were made.
