Garzê is located in western Sichuan Province on the southeast of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is populated primarily by Tibetan people. The prefectural seat of Dartsedo (or Kangding) has been an important location for the tea and horse trade between the Han and Tibetan peoples since the Song dynasty (960-1279). The prefecture's Dêgê County is known as one of the three major centers of ancient culture, along with Lhasa, Tibet and Xiahe, Gannan. It is one of the important cradles of Tibetan culture. Garzê has many tourist attractions, including the Hailuogou Glacier Forest Park in Luding County, and Paoma (“Running Horse”) Mountain and Mugecuo Lake in Dartsedo. There is also the famous Luding Chain Bridge, which was designated as an important cultural site for preservation after the Liberation and had a revolutionary relic exhibition hall built to display historical materials related to the fight of the Red Army.
Daocheng Yading, also known as Yading Nature Reserve, is known by locals as Aden Scenic Area. Located in the southern part of Daocheng County in Ganzi Prefecture, it is mainly composed of three mountains, Xiannairi, Yangmaiyong, and Xianuoduoji, as well as surrounding rivers, lakes, and alpine meadows. There are not only magnificent and sacred snow-capped mountains in the scenic area, but also vast meadows, colorful forests, and blue crystal clear lakes. Hiking on foot like the local Tibetans is a better way to experience the scenery in Yading. However, due to the high altitude of the Aden Protected Area, the entire walk still requires considerable physical fitness.
The Hailuogou Glacier Forest Park is located in the southeastern part of Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Visitors to Campsite #3 will have the opportunity to come into close contact with a variety of glacial landscapes including glacial lakes, ice caves, and ice fissures. No one who visits will leave without having their childlike sense of wonder restored. Campsite #2 is best known for it's open-air hot springs. If you are lucky enough to encounter snowfall while you are there, you can enjoy the steamy baths among a frozen winter wonderland. Although this happens every year, it is an unforgettable experience. Campsite #3 is also a good place to watch the golden sun rise over the king of Sichuan's mountains - Minya Konka.
Mugecuo in Kangding City, also known as Dahaizi, is a mountain lake in northwestern Sichuan. The water is very clear as they come from the melted water of the snow mountains. Visitors can pick a spot wih good views and comfortably enjoy the crystal clear waters and beautiful surrounding mountains. There is also a hot spring in the scenic area. If you are interested, take a hot spring bath and eat some local hot spring eggs.
Xindu Bridge of Ganzizhou is located on the 318 National Highway of the Sichuan-Tibet Line. It is known as the “photographer’s paradise” for its stunning scenery. Every new visitor to Xinduqiao will be shocked by the beauty of the view. There are plateau meadows and clear rivers. You can see grazing cattle and sheep on the hillsides in the distance, as well as Tibetan villages scattered everywhere. Every spring, when the leaves turn gold, it welcomes the most beautiful time of the year.
