What people are saying:

Tagong Temple is a famous flower temple in Tibetan area. It is one of the famous temples of the Sakya Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. It is known as the "Little Jokhang Temple". It has a high status in Tibetan Buddhism and its temple architecture is magnificent. "Tagong" in Tibetan means "a place that Bodhisattva likes", and its biggest highlight is that there is a 12-year-old Buddha statue of Sakyamuni like the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa. Going south from the temple is the beautiful Xinduqiao photography corridor.

    Pretty

Nice temple. The monks are friendly and seem to like visitors. It seems to be more locals than tourists so it feels more authentic.

Awesome in a very real sense of the word

This is an incredible place to visit. It is not a tourist attraction(although we were warmly greeted by all we met), it is a very real monastery. The monks are so tolerant of outsiders coming in, but ...

    Difficult to Grasp the History

I may have just visited on a bad day as I didn’t feel I could get a good grasp on the history. Perhaps it was because there was no one collecting the entrance fee and no handout to explain what you we...

Went there on the 15th of the month during Tibetan new year, there were many local families there, busy time. The monastery is home to many important historical & religious relics. When I was there, n...
