Yankou Ancient Town is located in Wusheng County, known in ancient times as Fengshan Village. It was built in the Song Dynasty and is now comprised mostly of Ming and Qing architecture. Yankou Ancient Town is a Muslim-dominant Hui settlement in the Jialing River Basin. The entire town is built atop a mountain and was once a trading hub, given the convenient transportation created by the nearby waterways. Hundreds of merchant and trading ships would pass by the village daily, bringing with them products from throughout Yuechi, Wusheng and Guang'an. After the founding of the People's Warlord Era, Wusheng's county seat was moved here, making the village the political, economic and cultural center of the county and further increasing its prosperity.
