Guigang is situated on the Xunyu Plain in southeastern Guangxi, on the banks of the Xijiang River. It is one of southwest China's most important transportation hubs – the China-Myanmar gas pipeline ends in the city. Guigang is known as the 'lotus city' due to the large number of lotus flowers that bloom here. It has over 2000 years of history; today, the city is a booming inland port. Popular attractions include Longtan National Forest Park, Xishan Scenic Area, Nanshan Temple and Jiuling Lake.
The West Mountain Scenic Area is one of Eastern Guangxi's famous scenic spots. West Mountain has been one of Guangxi's famous Buddhist shrines ever since ancient times. Inside the scenic area, the ancient Longhua Ancient Temple is a must-see site for the many Buddhists. Furthermore, the scenery in the mountains is also very beautiful. Ancient trees tower over the mountain roads. From the mountaintop, it is possible to look over the city. There is also the famous Fu Spring and the Longhua Temple, which can be said to be the essence of the West Mountain Scenic Area.
Longtan National Forest Park is in Jintian Forest Farm and Dapingshan Animal and Plant Nature Reserve in the northwest of Guiping City. The peaks in the scenic area are surprisingly steep, and the waterfalls are famous for their 100-meter drop. There is also a rich flora and fauna landscape. Wandering in the garden, you can see monkeys playing. It was once one of the main scenic spots of the TV drama "Taiping Heavenly Kingdom."
Nanshan Temple is located inside Nanshan Park. The environment here is both quiet and elegant. Nanshan Temple was built on and around local caves starting in the second year of the Duangong Period of the Taizu Emperor of the Song Dynasty (AD 989). Ever since ancient times, this site has been the first choice for nearby residents to visit when they want to pray for good fortune. When visitors first arrive at Nanshan Park, they climb up along Nanshan Mountain before coming to the temple. Along the way, many pavilions for resting or sightseeing have been built. The temple has a calm and quiet environment with caves behind it, including the Big Buddha and Guanyin Cave. One of the treasures of the temple is an intact Song Dynasty iron bell.
Baishi Mountain is a famous Danxia landform in southeastern Guangxi and once a famous Taoist resort. The 21st cave of 36 grotto‐heavens is located here, a white stone cave. There are also Taoist and Buddhist relics, such as Shousheng Temple and Sanqing Temple. Baishi Mountain has two peaks: Duxiu Peak and Lotus Peak. They are steep with wide mountaintops.
