Sishu Garden

Across the street from Hejiang Pavilion, there is a new small park, Sishu Garden, which is a good place to relax after tea and dinner in normal days. Sishu Garden has beautiful scenery and lush vegetation, which is no different from other small parks. But it is a park with profound water culture connotation. In the center of the park, five giant rough stone pillars are erected high. These five stone pillars engraved the five major water control projects in the history of Chengdu, and also recorded the historical process that Chengdu was born and prospered by water. Every major flood control project in the history of Chengdu has strongly promoted the development of Chengdu's social economy and culture. Each stone pillar in Sishu Garden is engraved with a red seal like a seal, which indicates the water control content carved on this stone pillar. The seal carvings on the five stone pillars are: Turtle Spirit Controlling Water, Li Bing Chuan Erjiang River, Wen Weng Controlling Jianjiang River, Gao Pian Gaifu River, and Eternal Liufang. Next to each stone pillar, there are four large stones, on which the deeds of the four heroes of water control, Bie Ling, Li Bing, Wen Weng, and Gao Pian, are introduced in detail. These 5 stone pillars surround the central fountain, forming a gorgeous waterscape. Every weekend or holiday, the stone pillars will spew crystal water jets and gather into the pool. This fountain symbolizes the source of Chengdu's prosperity - Dujiangyan. The whole Sishu Garden symbolizes the nourishment of Dujiangyan and Jinjiang to Chengdu, and the nourishment of Chengdu, which means drinking water and thinking of the source.
