Photos of Qutan Temple

Qutan Monastery, known in Tibetan as "Zhuocang Lagodandai", also known as "Zhuocang Dorje Qiang", which means "Ledu Holding Vajra Buddha Temple". The monastery is surrounded by mountains and rivers. The overall layout is a rectangle, covering an area of 1.5 hectares. This is a surprising anomaly among the many Tibetan Buddhist temples in the Amdo area, reminiscent of the Han-style Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Beijing and Chengde. If you only have time to see a temple in eastern Qinghai and are interested in ancient architecture and mural art, then Qutan Temple is your best choice. The monastery is a relatively large monastery in the Nanshan area of Ledu, and it is also a relatively well-preserved group of Ming Dynasty buildings in northwestern China. Its overall structural layout is similar to that of the Forbidden City in Beijing, so it is called the "Little Forbidden City". Since its establishment in the Hongwu period of Ming Dynasty, Qutan Temple has gone through more than 600 years. This temple is famous in the northwest for its majestic and simple, precious cultural relics and huge colorful murals with high artistic value. It is revered as a Buddhist land by Tibetans, Mongolians, and other ethnic groups who believe in Tibetan Buddhism. It is one of the famous flower festival areas in the province.
