What people are saying:

What is this temple? It's so special. The big Buddha's head is so eye-catching and sacred. It's very solemn and it's very special. The thousand Buddha gates make people feel very small and enter the temple. It's calming.

Additional Information

Introduction

Donglin Temple is a Buddhist temple located in Shanghai’s Jinshan District. It is dedicated to Guan Yin, the bodhisattva of compassion. Dating as far back as 1308, the temple complex has been destroyed and rebuilt many times over the years, with the most recent renovations occurring between 2004 and 2007. The current architecture evokes the sense of grandeur and splendor. Even though the structures are not themselves historic, the Donglin Temple gives visitors plenty to admire.
