We came here again, the environment here is very good, very comfortable, bright, and the atmosphere is also very good, especially suitable for dining. There are wonderful and delicious meals, a variety of cuisines, and the prices are very affordable. There is also first-class service, which is really great!
I should have known better given its location, but nonetheless plunked myself down in this establishment. The food is just burgers, fries, salads - which they do as well as 1000 other establishments. The table was barren, other than an ashtray that dispensed ashes onto the table with each gust of wind.... no salt, no pepper, no hint of bread, just lifeless. The service is very slow and they have no interest in the clientele. It is the classic tourist trap - give it a pass.
Stopped here for a bite to eat while exploring. When we arrived, the place was pretty busy, people were sitting both inside and outside, but we were immediately seated inside. I think we initially chose this restaurant to admire the lake while enjoying our lunch, but there was a type of translucent covering preventing the clear view we had hope for. Nevertheless, the interior design was sufficient and I think we still enjoyed our meal. My title isn't a complete misnomer though, because if you chose to dine outside, you'll be able to enjoy your meal with a CLEAR VIEW. On to the food and service. Our server was really nice. She mixed up a bit of our order, but I was so hungry, I honestly didn't care. The food was delicious. I had the arugula pizza. I was a little intimidated by the size of the pizza, it's quite large, big enough for two people, but I devoured it all. I tried a slice of my friend's Bufala pizza and it was quite good as well. To drink, I recommend the Alsterwasser shandy (beer and lemonade), YUMMM! I'd definitely return as it seemed pretty centrally located and the food and service was great.
Everything we have tried at Mio has been excellent but we haven't tried a proper meal yet - since what attracts us to Mio time after time are the coffee, the Apfelstrudel (with or without ice cream) and the enormous, decorative (or even funny: take a look at the spaghetti versions!) ice cream desserts. Mio is best when the weather allows you to sit on the terrace with a view of the Binnenalster and its diligent traffic (including a steamboat (?)).
My husband and I liked this place for its great view, location close to all the Christmas markets and really good desserts. Service was slow and seemed not really interested much ij their customers, but a couple of drinks, and we did not care. :-)
