The predecessor of Yangqi Temple was the maternal mansion of Empress Yang of the Southern Song Dynasty, and it was also the Houwang Mansion gifted by the king of Kuaiji Prefecture as the king of Ji, Yang Cishan, breaking the rule of the Han emperor Liu Bang's relatives not being crowned kings. In the second year of Jiading in the second year of the Song Dynasty (AD 1209), Ningzong Zhao Kuo gave the "Chongfu Temple" a plaque on the top of the Chongfuhou Mansion, fulfilling the long-cherished wish of Yangjiashe House as a temple; it was renamed "Yangqi Temple" in Ming Dynasty. This ancient temple of Song Dynasty was successively renamed Chongfu Temple, Qiwang Temple, Jiwang Temple, Qiwang Temple. Because of the temple’s return to the 13th generation of Linjizong, Fanghui created Yangqi School, it is one of the "Five Sects and Seven Schools" of Chinese Zen Buddhism.
