Featuring high forest coverage rate and many varieties of animals and plants, the Guanyin Mountain Forest Park is located in the city's southern suburbs. Within the park there are centuries-old ancient blooming osmanthus and ancient ginkgo trees. The bamboo garden is a verdant flourishing green the whole year round. Some of the wild animals found among the park's dense forests include azure-winged magpies, owls and hedgehogs. The tomb of patriotic general Zhang Wenzhong is also placed among the park's dense woods. The ruins of the Yuantong Zen Temple—built during the reign of the Qing Emperor Kangxi—can be found in the park's hinterlands. At present, the park has dozens of attractions such as the Yangxin (Nourishing Heart) Pool, Furong (Hibiscus) Valley and Youth Park.
