Hiroshima Delta, flood control
Original Text
The Ota River, which forms the Hiroshima Delta, seems to have been flooded many times. The construction work of the Ota River discharge canal, which started before the war, was completed over a long period of time between the war. This water gate is exactly the key to flood control in the Hiroshima Delta. The running course, including this water gate, the downstream Kita Ohashi bridge, and the embankment on both banks of the river, is about 3 km, and it is quite crowded with many joggers and sansaku, and dog walkers.
I usually passed by without any care, but it is a very important place for Hiroshima citizens. There were many flood damage this year, and what would have happened without this gate at that time? Thank you very much.
There is a waterway from where this water gate is located, and when flooded, water is easy to flow into the waterway. I think Hiroshima would be a great flood without this waterway.
Change the direction of the water flowing into the city during heavy rain
Original Text
It is to prevent a lot of water from flowing into the city during heavy rain and change the direction of the water. There are not all gates, but only a few in Sumiko.
Located in Ushida-cho, Higashi-ku, Hiroshima City, it is a water gate at the end of the Ota River branched into two. The amount of water in the river is adjusted in conjunction with the Gion Water Gate at the end of the branch on the other side.
