About Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens

The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is the second oldest garden in the Australia.Thee are four sections within the gardens including a special Tasmanian section, Botanical Discovery Center, Botanical Shop and The Gardens Restaurant. You'll not only enjoy the breathtaking views from the outdoor sitting areas, but you'll learn while you are there. The Gardens are about learning and training as much as they are for the visitors, so your entire trip to the Botanical Gardens can be an educational experience, if you want it too be. The Gardens are equipped with wheel-chairs, which are available on request, wireless internet and toilets with disabled facilities if needed. If you have children there are special attractions and activities for them.

Special Events

The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is established in 1818, and is the second oldest botanical garden in Australia. Within it is many precious trees and plants, and some of their ages can even be traced back to the nineteenth century. These gardens also are home to the largest collection of mature conifers in the Southern Hemisphere and it also has the only sub-Antarctic plant house in the world. If you come during a good flowering season, you will be dazzled by all the colors and flagrant emitted, and it is an unforgettable experience. Perhaps, it is due to the fact that both Hobart and Shizuoka Prefecture of Japan are sister cities, there is a Japanese garden in the botanical garden that adds an oriental touch to it.
