Heritage of Mei Ho House

Mei He Building, originally a representative of the public housing village of the 1960s in Hong Kong, was seven floors high and located in Shek Kip Mei, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was later cleared, but it was finally retained and revitalized and remodeled. It has now become a characteristic youth hostel and exhibition hall. It is worth visiting to re-acquaint the building and learn about the history of the village.

The Meihe Building in Hong Kong is the first generation of public housing of the Hong Kong government. It is historically preserved and revitalized into YHA Meihe Building Youth Hostel, with Meihe Building Life Hall. The main features of Meihe Building in its H-shaped appearance and simple and practical design, the real space and every old object seen in Meihe Building, bring the audience to that era. Near Sham Shui Po, you may be able to visit and see the life of Hong Kong's public housing estates from the 1950s to 1970s. Meihe Building is not big and can be visited in an hour.

Mei Ho House, built in 1954, is the first "H" unattended building in Hong Kong, marking the beginning of Hong Kong's public housing policy. Because of its historic significance, it has been retained and awarded as a second-class historical building. It has been activated into "YHA Mei Lou Youth Hostel" with "Mei Lou Living Hall". The hotel provides 129 rooms, including 93 double rooms, 8 family rooms, 10 multi-room, 14 theme rooms and 4 rooms for the disabled.
