Hukoulao Street

With the Sanyuan Palace as the center, Laohukou consists of three streets: "Street", "Hengjie" and "Xinjie". Around 1920, Xinjie was what we now call Hukou Old Street. The buildings in Hukou Old Street are all made of red bricks. The architectural style of the old street is quite special. The facade of the archway is a Roman Baroque building. The internal layout of the old street houses is based on the mixed use of residences and shops. The first entrance is the storefront, the second entrance is the home, and the deep well between the two entrances is where the kitchen is located. Among the existing old streets in Taiwan, the arched porches in Hukou Old Street are opposite to each other. The street houses are neatly arranged with arcades, the first floor is a single-arch corridor with columns, and there are cement lintels between the windows and parapets on the second floor. The name of the company is engraved on it, which is concise and generous. After walking through Hukou Old Street, it is like experiencing a vague history. So far, the Sanyuan Palace at the end of the old street has always been the cohesion center of the residents.
