The former residence of Wu Cheng'en is located in the ancient town of Hexia, in the northern part of the Old Town district of Huai'an. It is a garden complex in the style of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). There are many pavilions, towers, artificial hills, and ponds in the garden. The scenery is characterized by a simple elegance. Here, visitors can learn about the life of Wu Cheng’en, the author of The Journey to the West, and view related cultural relics. Liu Xiao Ling Tong, the actor famous for his role as Sun Wukong in the TV series Journey to the West, has made significant contributions to the restoration of the former residence. Thus visitors can also find exhibitions related to the actor there.
