amazing!! we went for one day total. we went up the eastern cable car at 7:30 am then hiked over to the western side for a few hours. we then went up the peak which was the most amazing part, then went down the western steps. very very sore the next few days but well worth it.
amazing place to visit! hiking track isnt hard, but it is very steep (very safe) if you work out regularly then you are okay. The weather is good when we went there. clear sky little bit of foggy parts in the morning and bits of snow on tree branches and some part of the hiking path (you have to buy the shoes chain to help you hike easier and safer —- ask the guard guy on the mountain —- we got one guy asked us randomly if we wanna buy one and that was a great decision because it helps you hike a lot easier and much safer —- he sold it for 25 rmb each pairs and even helped us wearing it
Amazing user-friendly mountainous destination. Beautiful scenery and well worth the excursion from Shanghai. We took the fast train from Shanghai to Huangshan North, then caught a taxi (200RMB) to our hotel in Tankhou at the base of the scenic area. Pack extra layers. Can choose a number of different trails throughout the mountain area, we did a shorter ~10km route with our 3 and 4 year olds.
Incredible view from the top of the mountain. Well indicated signs all along the hiking path, with restrooms every here and there. Cable car to take you up and down if you’d like to take the easy way out. I would not recommend hiking if you are not reasonably active.
Definitely the best place where I have been this far in China! Must to go place. I climbed the longer route up because going down damages more your knees so I took the shorter route down. I slept on the top in a tent, which I carried with me. I remember take warm clothes because it gets cold during night! If you hike up you are able to enjoy the scenery in peace. On top of the mountaine there were many tourist groups whole were noicy, hustle and snotty (you know how Chinese always spit from deep throat ).
simply amazing area. even during torrential downpour of rain it was a great experience. the cable car ride is a great way to see the ascending view and the hike down to the bus station (although steep decline) is a chance to see a different view again. we stayed in the small town at the bottom of the south gate to the mountain area which had delicious restaurants and nice places to hang out for a coffee or drink afer a days hiking. would love to visit again!
