Urquhart Castle is one of the most important monuments in the Scottish Highlands. It played an important role in the 14th century Scottish War of Independence and was once the largest castle in Scotland. Situated on a huge rock deep into the lake on the South Bank of Nice, the castle offers a panoramic view of the mysterious scenery of Lake Nice. Now it reveals loneliness and mystery. I didn't really expect much before I went, because when I looked at the pictures, it was a depressing castle with broken walls. I didn't think it was the best time for a three-day trip to the Scottish Highlands. The tranquil Loch Ness, once glorious castle relics, even though it was winter, still had green grasslands, which made up a very beautiful exquisite scene. So Lake Ness and Eckett Castle are the places I would recommend for another trip to Scotland.
Ecket Castle is a thousand-year old castle by Lake Ness. Although it is a ruined and broken wall, it is completely integrated with the beautiful scenery here and is full of legends like this mysterious Lake Ness. Standing on the castle overlooking Lake Ness is the best place to see the lake, you must not miss it.
The ruins of the castle near the cliff in the middle of Lake Ness are very sentimental. You can sign up for Lake Ness Cruise + Ecket Castle at the Inverness Tourist Center, or you can go back and forth by boat and take a bus. Cruise ship prices range from 14 to 44 (see figure below), but they generally cost more than 3,40 to start from downtown. The Castle usually stops in the middle and then returns to the city on the next flight. If you get off the bus stop and go to the castle, the queue for tickets is very long in busy season. It is suggested to buy a Scottish heritage pass, so that you can take another aisle without a long queue. Three-day tickets are more cost-effective, 30 pounds can visit Stirling Castle, Eckett Castle and Edinburgh Castle, a total of 8 pounds saved. There are restaurants in the castle, and staff in Scottish traditional costumes sometimes blow Scottish bagpipes along the River Nice. It was a wonderful journey.
Compared with Austria Castle in the southern town, the castle has a feeling of being isolated by the lake. During the peak season, there are cruise ships that can reach it directly. Other modes of transportation are difficult to reach if they are not self-driving or with regiments. From the side of the highway in the middle of the mountain, it is a good angle to appreciate the castle and Lake Ness. Today, the castle is more like a ruin, with some broken walls telling the history of the past.
If time permits, you can buy a round-trip ticket on a boat in Lake Ness. When you arrive, you can get off for a tour and then take the next boat back to the dock. In the years after the 14th century, this castle, which is now a relic, has staged too many bloody scenes. The best place to observe it is from the cruise ship pier to the castle. When the cruise ship approaches the castle pier, it will have a good view of the castle from the lake.
Ecket Castle is a historic monument, located in the Scottish Highlands south of Inverness, on the cliff of Lake Ness. It is high and surrounded by water on three sides. It used to be an easy-to-defend and difficult-to-attack military fortress and one of the most important ancient relics in the Scottish Highlands. All we can see now is the ruins of the castle, which is said to have been destroyed by the defenders in 1691 in order to prevent the castle from being occupied by the enemy. But even today, the castle is still spectacular.
Tickets are 9 pounds. There was a parking lot. It was a castle site on Lake Ness. Because the war was blown up, not well preserved, but broken walls, but the structure of the castle is still there, you can understand. Standing on the castle overlooking Lake Nice is also good.
A castle with only ruins and broken walls has a desolate beauty. The ticket is 9 pounds. It needs to go down from the elevator, otherwise it can only be seen in the parking lot. We haven't gone on, the view is already beautiful, mainly for the castle's history is not familiar with, like friends or recommend to see, you can climb up yo.
