The path is blocked by a landslide after you descend from Cheape's monument. I visited on 5/5/21 and bypassed it by descending to the shore without much difficulty. You need to be aware of tides.
It's a 5 mile hike each way so you need 3 hours each way not including stops. The first 4 miles to the Bothy are fine along good paths with superb views. After that for experienced walkers only....
Challenging walk about 5 miles each way requiring descent of ladder. Not obvious when you reach the tree and not sign posted. A beautiful walk especially when the bluebells are out (May).
