Found this refuge after a long walk in Istanbul. The whole area is more &quot;Western&quot; and calmer than other cities. The staff is very friendly and professional. The cafe is surprisingly spacious and full of books. The choice of music is almost as good as coffee. I hope I can find this palace sooner that day.

For those looking for avant-garde presentation, exquisite tastes, and exclusive interior, Alancha is the place to dine. Introducing a variety of Anatolian dishes with a twist, this place offers a very unique dining experience in a very posh neighborhood of the city. Make sure to try the Turkish Manti with prawns.

This is a restaurant by a Turkish chef aspiring to become Michelin-starred at any time. One can feel the dedication and commitment among the waiters and sous-chefs to reach their objective. It is always inspiring to see young people with passion and clear objectives. I believe the path the chef is leading his team is correct: The menu originates from Anatolian delicacies and street food created by ordinary people&#39;s daily needs. He excels in transforming these indigenous tastes into a gourmet experience by modernising appearance and enriching flavors. We were at Alancha on a Saturday evening where I counted 26 guests all personally served by chef and sous-chefs. Our tasting menu comprised of 12 dishes like Keshkek, made of pounded meat and wheat which is very Anatolian, pistachio kebab and lokum. 10 out 12 dishes were superb in flavor and appearance. The lamb liver smelled of the animal itself, which is very typical, but I would expect the chef to interfere in this smell. There was too much pistachio in pistachio kebab while the meat could have been enriched with spices, at least with pepper, or a more delicious meat could have been used. I also did not like bulgur served with this dish as it was way too moist. Since they can extract oil of coriander, orange, chipotle and other ingredients in-house, the dishes were enriched profusely by these oils with very tasty results. This is the place where thousands of years of Anatolian gastronomical heritage is carried into modern times without losing its spirit while preserving its roots and claiming a rightful stake in world culinary competition.

My Istanbul friends brought me to this place: I admit I was impressed by its sophistication and modern atmosphere. Cocktails caught my attention first: I never saw anything like this! Extremely original, something you would not easily see anywhere else (take the cocktail &quot;fume&quot;). Reading the menu (both in turkish and english) I noticed that this is a classy fusion restaurant which offers revisited versions of traditional turkish cuisine. A starter soup was offered by the restaurant. Food was very good, although I think portions could have been more generous, for the price they had. The service of this restaurant is an asset: friendly waiters who informed you about all the ingredients of what you are about to eat or drink anytime. Of course this is an expensive place to eat in.. but remember: you are in one of the most exclusive restaurants of the city. Reservation is a must.
