The Old City of Jerusalem is located in the east of Jerusalem and covers an area of only one square kilometer. The Old City is divided into four religious areas, namely the Jewish District, the Islamic District, the Christian District and the Armenian Diocese. The Old City of Jerusalem has now become a gathering place and a religious attraction for the three major religions. Every year, a large number of pilgrims flock here to worship. There are many historical sites in the old city, such as the Wailing Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the Holy Rock Mosque.
The Old city is actually very compact with narrow alleys and contains small communities of different faiths. It's amazing to understand the building process and how there's entire layers of the previous settlements. An incredible experience and insight into the long history.
