What people are saying:

The Zhu family garden was built in the Guangxu years, lasted 30 years, cost two generations of financial resources, covering 20,000 square meters, exquisite structure, layout. Personally like the garden part, repeated play the southern water resources advantages, the pond in the building intermingled, reflections like a dream.

    Interesting place to look around

The Zhu family garden was an interesting place to look around. There were hundreds of school children here which made the visit a little challenging.

Espresso at last, espresso at last!

I found espresso in the most unlikely spot. The barista here speak a little English and make THE best shots in Yunnan. I highly recommend it to any caffeine deprived traveller.

    Tradtional Chinese house

Nice to wondering through the old Chinese house and imagine how the family lived before. Not so touristy. Entrance fee is bit expensive.

Additional Information

Introduction

The Zhu Family Garden is located on Hanlin Street in Jianshui County. It was a home and ancestral temple built by the Zhu Weiqing brothers in the waning years of the Qing Dynasty. Within the park, the ancestral hall, temple, living quarters and gardens are all magnificent and majestic. Visitors to the site can take the opportunity to learn about the architectural style of the southwestern residential gardens. The entirety of the Zhu Family Garden is built on a south-to-north axis and, for Jianshui, is a typical and classical combination of residential buildings and gardens. The buildings are, of course, laid out in a specific order. In the southeast corner of the Zhu Family Garden stands a Huaiyuan Hall with an exhibition on the Century-Long Rise and Fall of the Zhu Family.
