Itinerary
Day1: Arrive in Qingdao. Tired from the day's journey, check into the hotel directly. Following a local's recommendation, went to a local barbecue restaurant that's really delicious, Jiule Electric Barbecue 🍖. You must try their signature sea intestine rice, it's really tasty!!
Day2: Zhan Bridge - St. Michael's Cathedral - Signal Hill Park - University Road - Xiaoyushan (Fushan Branch Road) - Qinyu Road - Lu Xun Park - Little Qingdao - Taidong Pedestrian Street (As someone living in a food desert, I think many of the snacks on both sides of the pedestrian street are traps, but there's a takeout-only Taiwanese sausage that's especially delicious!)
(For feeding seagulls, you can buy bread at a convenience store first, as a bag of bread slices in the scenic area costs five yuan and only has a little bit.)
Day3: Badaguan Scenic Area - No.2 Bathing Beach - Xiaomai Island
You must visit Xiaomai Island! It's really picturesque!
🏠Accommodation: During the off-season when I went, it was basically around 200 yuan. Qingdao's subway is very convenient, so I suggest staying near a subway station.
🚗Transportation: The subway is extensive, so I recommend traveling by subway. Don't take a taxi in the old town area; it's easy to get stuck in traffic. For some distances around one kilometer, it's better to walk.
Regarding food, it's a good idea to ask the taxi driver for recommendations. Local drivers usually know the best places.

Jiaodong Airport Ramada | The first Ramada in Qingdao is open!

I always like to give more time to visit the airport when I take a plane. This business trip to Qingdao, on the return flight, I deliberately left half a day to visit this new airport that has been open for only two years.
The transportation from all over Qingdao to the airport is very convenient, with subways, buses, airport lines, and intercity trains. I took a taxi to the airport. The modern international airport has realized self-check-in, self-check-in, smart security check and boarding, which is very convenient.
After passing the security check, it is the central landscape area. "Sea Dream" and "Fish Returning to Nest" are two of the landmark landscapes, which have the characteristics of Shandong.
In my opinion, the airport is a large shopping mall and a large scenic spot. You can buy and eat everything here, and you can see beautiful landscapes.

Nowadays, there are many coffee shops in the airport, and Jiaodong International Airport is no exception. It is convenient for passengers with extra time to have a cup of coffee and a simple meal.
I had lunch in the VIP room, a bowl of noodles, a bowl of chicken soup, and some fruits. That bowl of noodles, I poured the chicken soup into it, it was so delicious.
After eating the noodles, I made myself a cup of coffee, charged my phone in the warm room, and then went out for a stroll.
In fact, there are charging desks at intervals in the airport, and some people even take out their laptops to charge and work at the same time.
To be honest, I really enjoy my time at the airport. So, every time I go to take a plane, I will arrive early, and then, treat the airport as a tourist attraction, and stroll slowly.
This is also a kind of fun.

🏞️The Confucius Six Arts and Culture Park adds cultural depth, while artificial lawns, camping facilities, and boats provide activities. You can stroll for about two hours or book a sightseeing battery car.
⛩️Ciyun Temple, a Tang Dynasty gem on a small island in Shaohai Wetland Lake, and the iconic Wanfo Pagoda enhance the scenic beauty. With shops and restaurants nearby, it's a pleasing and well-rounded experience.

You always have to make a trip to Shao Hai Wetland Park when you come to Jiaozhou! What a beautiful lake island! Tired of seeing Qingdao's foreign-style houses, villas and castles, it's very novel to see traditional temples and pagodas. The temple on the island is called Ci Yun Temple, next to it is the Wanfo Pagoda, and there are also Confucius statues, Confucius school, a small amusement park by the lake, and the lush vegetation here is also suitable for camping.

🇨🇳Qingdao | Budget hotel for overnight at airport
The room wasn’t really big but it happened to be a neat and clean hotel. The hotel got us everything we need including hangers, boiler, cups, shampoo, body wash etc. The amenities weren’t something from a luxury brand but it was good enough for a night.
As the hotel is located inside the terminal, you don’t need to take a shuttle bus or any transport. The check-in area of the airport is located within walking distance.
The breakfast was located at Plaza Premium Lounge so it was great. Although there wasn’t many facilities at the hotel such as a pool or a gym, those provided were already enough for a night.
The hotel provides garden view room but the garden wasn’t that appealing and looked really artificial. I would recommend going for a cheaper option.
