Maowusu Desert lies between Yulin City in Shaanxi Province and E'erduosi (Yikezhaomeng) in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The Great Wall crosses the southern edge of the desert from east to west. It has been proved that, in ancient times, the area was a fertile and beautiful grassland, acting as excellent pasture. Later, due to climate change and war, ground vegetation was wiped out and sand crept in, forming the desert we see today.
The Jingbian area is a very good section of the desert.
The Mu Us Desert is one of the four largest sandy land in China. If it is not accurate to say that it is the Mu Us Desert, it is correct to say that it is the Mu Us Sand Land, which is no longer the sandy land of the past. Since the beginning of sand control, vegetation has generally appeared, and the color has turned bright green. It is difficult to find the true meaning of the desert in Jingbian.
