Special Events

Kathmandu Durbar Square is at the heart of the old city area, and there are many ancient monuments and aesthetic red brick buildings to be seen there. To the South of the square are many shops selling local souvenirs, and to the West are the ancient temples. The Eastern area is the entrance to the former royal palace. Every day at dawn, there will be a huge gathering of vegetable stalls at the square selling their merchandize and the place turns rather lively. The decor of Hanuman Dhoka (royal palace) is of the classicism style of artefacts and furniture, and within it are housed many historical royal items. Every day at dawn, there will be many locals coming to Talaju Temple to pray. On the west side of the Temple’s wall, hidden largely by the vegetation are many ancestral tablets.
