Port gates. Close the Channel. It used to be the starting point of the railway in Kyushu. There are many monuments everywhere. You can walk slowly along the shore. About all the places of interest and historic interest can be visited. At the same time, you can climb the building and have a long view. Recommend Jiuzhou Railway Museum. Pretty good
The old pier area of Mensi Port is absolutely the first-class scenic spot underestimated in North Kyushu. The old Meiji-era buildings in the harbor area are well maintained, surrounded by restaurants, retail stores and newly-built modern hotel facilities renovated by old foreign houses and warehouses. There is also a fancy Gallery (Exhibition Gallery) in the pier area. Because it is located on the southwest coast of the Guanmen Strait, the sea breeze is very cool. Night life in the old pier area is also very rich, and all kinds of bars and open entertainment activities in the summer festival pier will never be bored. In the daytime, there are cross-sea ferries directly to Xiaguan, Shankou County, opposite the port. Even if you live in Mensi, the journey can cover Xiaguan.
Mensi Port was an international trade port during the Meiji-Dazheng period in Japan. It used to be very prosperous. Although it did not have the scenery of the past, the European-style buildings in the port area still emitted charming charm. After renovation, it became an exotic scenic spot. When we went to the port area, there were not many people, walking in the former port area. The local residents relaxed in the street chairs, and seagulls from time to time. Flying back and forth, because early in the harbor area, I feel very quiet. Several boats stop at the nearby wharf, walk around the harbor area, take photos of the old buildings, sit in the open-air seat beside them with a drink, blow the breeze, and see people stealing half a day's leisure. On the cable-stayed bridge which pedestrians and bicycles pass regularly, there are people nearby. In fishing, you can clearly see the closing bridge in the distance. The famous snack here is roast curry. Unfortunately, it's not the right time to go. The shop is either on holiday or it doesn't open until 11 o'clock. So I can't wait to leave. Next time I have a chance to try it again.
Port Mensi is the main port in Fukuoka County, and also one of the most important ports in Kitakyushu. It is also the port that Japan opened earlier. There is an old residential area near the port. The houses have a history of more than 100 years. They have a sense of historical vicissitudes. There are also many warm restaurants and small shops here, which are worth walking around.
In 1889, it was built and opened to Hong Kong. Many commercial organizations and other institutions built many buildings with different styles. The streets also preserved many historical witnesses of that year, which can be seen as the style of the year. Old Mitsui Club, Osaka Merchant Ship, Mensi Customs and so on were all built in the Meiji era. Walking along the seashore, the salty and wet sea breeze blowing, has the taste of home.
Under the influence of Western culture, the nostalgic architecture and leisure atmosphere of Mensi Port have the feeling of Euro-port town. After a long time, you can go to the open-air coffee and tea room to rest and blow the sea breeze, and you can also buy some hand letters from the special shops in the Strait Square. Bananas produced in Taiwan were imported into Japan through Mensi Port, and then sent to Osaka, Tokyo with good quality. Hong Kong, which had matured and even started to blacken, remained in Mensi Port. In order to make ripe bananas sold out as soon as possible, special performances such as banana Hawking party will be held at the special sale, which has become the traditional skill of Mensi Port. This performance can be seen at Mensi Port at weekends, activities or ceremonies. And the banana people in the Strait Square, yellow and black, re-interpret the role of banana, now they are the just messenger of love and the envoy of environmental protection and energy saving respectively.
It's a quiet port town. I've been to it many times when I was studying abroad. This time I went to Japan again. I visited my hometown again. I caught up with the sunset and dusk. The scenery was beautiful. Walking around the small city, looking at the old buildings in the afterglow of sunset, tasting delicious Japanese snacks, quiet and comfortable. There is JR from Fukuoka to Mensi Port, and it is more convenient from Kitakyushu to Mensi Port. It is suggested to have a look at the harbour scenery at sunset.
One of the reasons for coming to Port Mensi is to appreciate the western architecture here. From the dock or JR station to the square, you will pass several more famous European-style buildings, first of all, the old Osaka Merchant Shipping Division, built in 1917. The most impressive ones are the orange tiles and octagonal tower houses with outer walls; formerly the waiting room for long-distance shipping routes, it is now the illustrator gallery, art design shop and cafe. And this old Mitsui Club, which has the architectural style of integration with foreign countries, is also very representative. It is built by trader Mitsui Property for reception and accommodation. When Einstein visited Japan in 1922, he stayed there and admired the beauty of the building. The room where Einstein and his wife stayed was completely preserved. Now they can pay to visit the room and the exhibition of the speech. The other floor is a restaurant.
Sophie's Japan Jiuzhou Travel Home Port nostalgia area (Mensi Port) takes JR from Bodo or Kokura to the dock of Shimonoseki Port Station, which is to Xiaguan Tanghu and Yanliu Island. It is convenient to buy tickets by self-help on the ticket plane. Almost every hour, there are three round-trip ships to eat seafood at the Tanghu Market. Behind the railway station is a nostalgic block, and you can see many European-style buildings that are totally not Japanese. Originated in 1889, Port Mensi opened to the outside world, attracting international shipping companies and trading companies to enter.
It's a very leisure place, where it's a good choice to spend a day in the sun.
