Nagoya Castle was the heart of one of the most important castle towns in Japan, Nagoya-juku, a post station on the Minoji road linking two of the important Edo Five Routes, the Tōkaidō and the Nakasendō. Nagoya Castle became the core of the modern Nagoya and ownership was transferred to the city by the Imperial Household Ministry in 1930.Nagoya Castle was destroyed in 1945 during the bombing of Nagoya in World War II and the reconstruction and repair of the castle has been undergoing since 1957.

I am into jr Nara which I had read was not near to the park however when you get off the train there are signs to the bus stop outside. the bus is a loop system with fixed price. there are 1300 deer in the park- photo opportunities everywhere. well worth a visit and easy by public transport.
Mt. Gozaisho is a popular ski and winter destination in Mie Prefecture. It is only a 2-hour bus ride to and from Nagoya City. From December to March in Winter, it offers a picturesque view of the snow-capped Mt. Gozaisho that is such a winter paradise!
They have a ropeway service to bring visitors to and from the summit of the mountain. Though the ropeway service is available, people also trek up to the summit all year round. They also have restaurants and stores on top.
