Introduction

Kota Kinabalu is the gateway to east Malaysia and an important transportation hub for those who intend to travel onwards to Sabah. Kota Kinabalu is rich in tourism resources - the magnificently beautiful sunsets from Tanjung Rhu Beach, the towering mountains, the bekantan monkey habitat in the mangroves. There is plenty to fill an exciting holiday with. Kota Kinabalu is surrounded by many small islands, each of which has its own distinctive characteristics. Some of the better known islands include Pulau Sapi, Pulau Manukan and Pulau Gaya. None of them are too far from Kota Kinabalu and visitors may consider taking an island-hopping tour.
