the roof is pretty
i love this place, not so crowded & near around is enjoyable esp for fish pool outside the temple, they are all fat. ha. the temple roof is pretty. l love it.
a small shrine for some local dignitaries I think. no english translation at the site but I guess to be allowed to be honoured here you must be someone special. only takes a couple of minutes to see.
Kengun Shrine is said to be the oldest shrine in Kumamoto City, and as one of the four Aso shrines, the god 々 is enshrined. It is said that the name of Kengun came from the conquest warrior.
It is the oldest historical shrine in Kumamoto. A part of the row of cedar trees, which is said to have been planted around Kiyomasa Kato, remains on the long approach from the Otorii gate to the shrine. Behind the precincts, a ring was also made so that sumo could be performed.
It is located in Kengun Town, west of Kumamoto. There is a magnificent vermilion torii gate along the national highway and there is an approach. It is popular with the oldest shrine in Kumamoto.
